Better Rare Ramp Cards [Green]

Limited forum

The cube I am building includes zendikar block to return to ravnica block as well as M11 to M14. So far I have been disappointed with a lot of the rare ramp cards besides the standard Primeval Titan and Oracle of Mul Daya in these sets.

The only other one's I've found thus far are Gyre Sage, Mul Daya Channelers, and Lotus Cobra, all of which are a little inconsistent for my liking.

Anyone know any other more consistent ramp in the aforementioned sets?

Thanks in advance!

Ramp cards at rare are pretty lackluster. Kodama's Reach or mana dorks are generally best because unlike Gyre Sage they require no set up for pay off.

Other useful cards Ive found are Courser of Kruphix to help you hit landdrops and mana doubling effects for storm combos.

Birds of Paradise within your set-limits?

@LeaPlath neither of those cards are in the sets I mentioned in the inital post. =/

@asasinater13 the cube has a limited amount of rares so I'm looking for something a little more powerful than that.

@Atony1400 It doesn't seem that optimal considering I only get one land and to destroy one permanent, but I'll think about it.

Elvish Mystic!

A lot of the better ramp spells are common or Uncommon in those sets. Gyre Sage is a bit of a beast though. You've mentioned a lot of Elves so I'm compelled to suggest Joraga Treespeaker & Elvish Archdruid.

@Karns_Pyromancer I agree with the fact that a lot of the better ramp spells are commons/uncommons in those sets. Cards like Joraga Treespeaker, Cultivate, and Llanowar Elves are already included. Unfortunately, there are not that many elves in the cube as a whole otherwise I would never even have a second thought about putting Elvish Archdruid.

The issue I ran across with Gyre Sage is that there is not a large amount of creatures with 3+ power and toughness included in the commons/uncommons, while there are only a limited amount of rares. When RTR was in standard I remember Gyre Sage was amazing, but that was with a properly constructed deck. Now I'm not so sure. Maybe you could elaborate on why you feel it is so amazing in order to convince me.

Also, I have been thinking about the possibility of Omnath, Locus of Mana, thoughts?

Even if Gyre Sage only has two +1/+1 counters, he still adds GG. That makes him a worse Shaman of Forgotten Ways, which is still good. It's important to note that anything power 2+ will trigger his Evolve too. Play him T2, T3 play a bear, then use him to add another G to your pool. Cards like Kalonian Tusker & Garruk's Companion are also available to you.

Mind me asking why the building restrictions?

Do you believe Gyre Sage is better than Omnath, Locus of Mana?

Monetary constraints and the person I'm co-creating it with likes the idea of them being similar to "real packs." I'm honestly just rolling with it. I've heard my fair share of people of Tappedout saying how unbalanced its going to be, so I would appreciate you skipping the lecture if that is your intention. We are going to test it once its complete and if it ends up being unbalanced like I've been told, we will go from there.
