Built my First Cube

Limited forum

I'm wondering...are there any patterns one should avoid? Any combinations that people feel are too strong for a limited environment?

For example...if you get a Jace, Memory Adept, Glimpse the Unthinkable and an Archive Trap you should be golden. Although Jace by himself seems to be really strong if you can defend him.

It's your cube, therefore you can build it how you want it. If you want all of blue and black to be solely mill, so be it. I've seen a cube where the entire thing was Storm.

Ditto to brokendwarf, build it the way you want it. However, if you want to make a typical goodstuff cube, a common pitfall is not running enough aggro cards. It's hard to make room for 1 mana 2/1 creatures, but without them a lot of games will just be grindy slogfests.

Make sure to have enough lands in your cube.

Yeah, I can see that. Defenders and TurboFog are themes, so something to race them will be valuable. So far it's tokens...

31 land. 10 Tris, 10 Duals and 10 fetches, and so far a Nykthos, but I think it may not be really relevant.

I just put together a Return to Ravnica cube. Huge fun. My advice is to make sure each color has equal representation and can be drafted with multiple strategies in mind.

I've drafted it enough times now to know how I like to play it. Maybe it's because I'm not in love with the other cards power level, or maybe they're just not my style. I'm not sure. It's built around the ten three color combinations, but for some reason I decided to weight it more heavily in favor of the Shards vs Wedges. 3:1, wondering if I should just make it 1:1?
