Legacy elves viable still?

I think I would enjoy playing legacy elves....but I have a concern that it is weak against alot of tier 1 decks.

Isnt elves deck susceptible to counters or wasteland or rishadan port getting rid of gaeas cradle? Or all they can do is just counter the craterhoof behemoth and its over...?

Elves can definitely make it. You can't assume the opponent will always have the perfect counter to what you're trying to do or else nothing would be good.

Pretty much any well built deck can be viable in Legacy. Just don't go Griffin tribal...lol.

Seriously though, Legacy is broad enough to support a viable strategy. Elves had been a powerhouse in the past. It also depends on the meta as to how Elves would perform currently. I'd run Cavern of Souls to Negate FoW and the ilk.

Elves is a great combo deck. They are great against Aggro decks like merfolk and death and taxes, fair against control, and not great against other combos like Show and Tell.

I have a bud who plays elves, he smacks me up every once and a while. I like stoping them with a Chalice of the Void, lot of 1 drops.

I play elves, it's considered tier 1.

You def need to know how to correctly sideboard against all the deck and what hands to keep vs. certain matchups.

I think that the worst matchup is honestly infect. They have counters for your combo and they just kill faster than you. Second worst match up can be sneak n show, depending on how fast their hand is and if you have a thoughtseize in your opening hand. Lands is also another of the worst matchups. Very grindy and Tabernacle is annoying.

Umm, other than that, elves has decent match ups across the board. Some match ups are more annoying than others but it's not like you're ever in a position of "well damn I'm playing X guess I'll scoop."

Elves is tier 1.

The important things is being shit hot on you Cabal Therapy and sequencing with Wirewood.

Elves is still fine. I would argue that the worst matchup for it is actually Miracles. I mean, post board you have access to Abrupt Decay, but if they get a turn two lock, the damage is already done. Also, Reanimator seems pretty bad for you as well as it's just faster.

The faster combo decks are really tough matchups, and miracles can be brutal if they countertop on turn two. If miracles has a hand that can't countertop early, the matchup is very favorable, and nearly every other popular deck is even or favors you. Your actually bad matchups are storm, reanimator, and sneak & show, as well as a few fringe or low tier decks. Overall, elves is a viable, powerful deck, and if you want to play something with high power, this is a good choice.

Is there a article or place where list the matchups Elves will typically face and what kind of sideboard cards are good against them?

If you have specific questions on sideboarding for specific matchups i'll try and help but I'm not going to list all of the 20+ matchups you are likely going to run into. Legacy is a super diverse format and that would take way too much time.

You can also google Ross Merriam Legacy Elves Primer but that's gonna be a little outdated (by like a year or so)
