Is there an unwritten rule saying legacy players must want signed copies of cards in their deck? I just started playing legacy and where as before I couldn't give a damn about signed cards foils etc i now want my entire deck "pimped"

Purely subjective.

I honestly don't like foiled cards. there a few exceptions to this rule (Foil Commanders or your deck isn't worth running..). I am working on building Legacy Miracles, and I really am completely uninterested in foiling the deck, especially since you can't foil dual lands...

True goofy but you can have the entire deck custom art and/or signed by each artist

Its nice to have something unique or at leaat more unique i suppose. I always get foils of legends as they get released now, i also get dragons in foil and anything else i really love to play. Where foils arent available black border for older stuff and when the price is silly like duals FBB will have to do. Probably jap or german i would think personally. Just got a german Fork for my EDH cube for example. Specials are epic too like judge foil Elesh, judge foil basic lands, holiday promos, all live happily in my cube gaining value rarity and creating epic plays :-)

Some people really need to foil or "pimp" their collection. I know a kid that sold his car to buy a huge load of judge promos and foils. Then he bought a bike with wjat was left and started pedaling to work and fnm. It's a sickness for some I guess. I like alt art of cards that I play with but by no means am into the foil wagon

I'm not a huge fan of foils, for example my legacy deck isn't going to be foiled out, Neither will my modern decks, butt I'm working on foiling and getting alternate arts and signatures for one of my edh decks. This is a deck I don't plan on breaking apart. But it does look better. I also like to get foils for my standard deck, just cause of the higher sell value at rotation.

The way I see it is Legacy players spend a lot of money on their decks. It isn't like standard where cards rotate out, so you can get these cards altered and have them forever.

For legacy since you play the deck for so long (and usually you dont switch up decks a lot). You want to personalize your deck. I am in the process of getting my deck signed and the basics tricked out

Legacy decks tend to be expensive, so most people develop a big attachment to those decks and they will rarely change the cards in the deck insisting that it is perfect. So in thinking that they ultimate way to solidify the perfection of their deck is to build it in foils and signed cards, to just make it look that much better. It's a forever thing once you get to that point.

I'm in the boat julianjmoss was talking about. Normally, I don't foil out decks or anything like that. But I've been playing the same goblin deck for over a decade. Most of my cards I got when they were in Standard (such as Goblin Recruiter and Goblin Piledriver).

While the deck occasionally changes depending on the shift in meta, new cards being printed, or a change to the banlist, they aren't significant enough that I wouldn't mind having my cards singed, crimped, foil, miscut, and altered.

Foiling a legacy deck is annoying, because the cards will be different to regular ones. What I DO want is alters/extended art. That way, all the cards look SWEET, and they're not obnoxiously foil.

Foil basics are fine to use. Lorwyn foils are amazing. I love foiling out EDH decks, though. Gotta make it all pimped.

i get tired of the same art. Same Karakas, force, lands, ect. Its cool to change it up. I like the unglued land border. I figure if you have already spent over 1k on a deck, you wont have a problem with another 5.
