Hey,

i just wanted to share our meta. a format in which we combined : respawn, planechase, officers and are a bit loose with the commanders.

love to see your opinion and feedback.

quote from our ''rulebook'' [https://commandervariants.wordpress.com/how-we-role/]

Legal as your commander are all legendary permanents and planeswalkers.

(this excludes landcards, you can’t cast them out of your commandzone now can you)

Planechase

Starting T5 of the beginning player we activate the planepile, and flip the first one over. The planepile exists out of 1 copy of all known planes and phenomenons. All players on the battlefield are on this plane.(not the ones in bubble). Die rolls are performed once each turn mandatory, and max 4 extra paying an extra mana for each roll surplus the first. So 5 total and 10 mana.(+1+2+3+4=10)

Respawn

Whenever you are late or killed off, you can (re)enter the battlefield with a deck of your choice. you start by playing 2 turns of solitaire inside a ”bubble”. Before the first turn after you say keep, you flip cards until you have X lands where X=y-2. y the lowest number of lands one of your opponents have on the battlefield you’re entering. The remaining cards are shuffled back in the library, and you start your turn.

you do not exist, you are not on the plane, you are alone in the void. T3 you enter the battlefield (and plane) in the turnorder, entering the battlefield means that you do have summoning sickness.

Lieutenants

Also called officers, are two extra slots in the commandzone. these cards have the same legality as your commander, within its colors. They are not commanders, so they do not deal generaldamage. They unlock only after you played your commander once. When they return to the commandzone they get more expensive, just like commanders but only 1 mana instead of 2, but they time-out 2 turns. (like suspend, trigger in upkeep). So you have to wait 2 rounds to be able to cast or use activated abilities of them.

2018 no fetch/tinker/tutor on officers allowed.

on the wordpress site you'll find more explanation and how we came up with this.

Thank you for your time.

This sounds extremely complicated, but I think it would be amazing in practice. How does the game end?

Well youre right it is. The game ends when we call it a night. Originally we awarded 2 points for killing a player and minus 1 if you would die. Then you could use some kill/death ratio formula on it to see who performed best. I try to keep score, for my own understanding. But my playgroup doesnt care less. We just play for 8 hours marathon without sitting out!(please kill me i need a smoke)
