just wondering if anybody knows about any sort of castle themed format where the players play with Wall creatures and sort of build "castles" and try to destroy their opponent's while protecting their own, if thats already a thing? cause i am working on something like that now. if its not, is anyone interested in helping brainstorm?

Maybe a very little bit borrowed from Emperor, like creature marching and so forth, but it's 1v1 (primarily) and attacking creatures attack Walls directly to try to destroy them so they can break into the castle and attempt to kill the King/Queen (legendary creature) you're trying to protect which can move around and hide behind walls etc.

Also Gargoyle creatures can be attached to Walls as if they were equipment for the Wall and add P/T, but die if the Wall is destroyed.

I have more than that so far but I just wanted to make sure it hasn't been done yet so I'm not wasting time.

This sounds like a really cool idea, but my biggest worry is the very specific kind of decks you need to be playing. Also why would people not just run Siege Dragon all of the time? Do you start with your walls on the battlefield? I think making gargoyles allowed to be equipped to walls is cool, but ultimately you shouldn't be adding new rules onto cards. Keep the cards and their rulings how they are, but change other rules to suit.

My rough idea would be start with say a board of x space wide (5 for example), each space has a dice to represent the life total of the wall. Say 10 life for example. This damage needs to be dealt directly by ground units. You can place units either in front or behind your walls, but flyers cannot attack walls directly. Instead, flyers can attack units behind your enemies walls (you would obviously keep your utility creatures behind the walls) You should be able to enchant your walls, but not equip them (as equipment makes no sense on a mall, but casting magic on it does)

This is all rough ideas, I'd love to work on this with you however! I'm trying to come up with my own TCG at the moment based on a battlefield perspective, so I have a few ideas in this sort of area.

Maybe a plants vs. zombies feel or one of those flash games with the armies that progress through time would be a good conceptual cousin to this. I like the 5x wide idea, maybe 8 deep, 4 on a side. Mana progression could be fixed ala Hearthstone, maybe shuffled if you wanted multi-color. Each turn, you drop your troops and walls, face down, then flip. Then creatures that have been face-up march forward (if they have haste, they can march the turn they come into play). Creatures & walls that try to occupy the same space or move past eachother fight. Fliers can choose to fight or not fight non-fly non-reachers.

Oooh: here's an idea: maybe the mana deck is your life total, mill for damage, then when the library is empty, destroy face-up land. when no land is in library or play, you lose.... something like that?

I guess instants and sorceries & enchantments could be played, too.... instants at any time, sorceries and enchantments before the march step. Maybe first priority would be given to you on your side of the field. I'm not sure where equipment or global enchantments might go... maybe with land.

An interesting idea, though... eh?

Ok guys first thanks for the interest. What I'll do is link you to the format page with the rough ideas I have so far. And yeah Siege Dragon would certainly have to be banned in the format lol. Let's continue the discussion in there. :)
