Young Pyromancer in Vintage

Young Pyromancer has made quite a splash in the vintage scene recently, and I have to say I'm not all that surprised. With the metagame shifting away from workshop decks and towards creature decks, young pyromancer has become an all-star, on the same power level as dark confidant and snapcaster mage. I have spoken many times about how powerful Young Pyromancer is in modern and legacy, and I'm glad a card as good as it is is getting some love, finally, from the vintage community. One of the best cards with him (or her, it's hard to tell) is Skullclamp . Skullclamp is only playable in vintage, and it is arguably the best equipment ever. The synergy between the two cards is better than that of Sword of the Meek and Thopter Foundry , and, if you protect the pyromancer, you are going to win. There are a lot of creatures with one toughness in vintage. A LOT. I was wondering what your thoughts are on my favorite red creature and one of my favorite creatures!(ps I pulled a foil one and three regular ones)

Well, having watch the Vintage Super League, the only decks I've seen with Young Pyromancer in them are the Gush -Fastbond decks and Storm decks since they can power out a TON of tokens. Outside of those I'm intrigued to see where he goes. I had to find a playset for a U/R Delver deck I'm putting together for Legacy, so I'm excited to see that he's getting quite the love from the Eternal crowd.

Plus I think his splash in Vintage comes from Vintage Masters being available MTGO, making Vintage a "supported" format there. If they release VMA every 2 years on MTGO, I bet the number of people who play Vintage will increase a TON, not that it hasn't due to VMA.

Young Pyromancer is fairly reliable in all formats to be honest. I'm not sure about the rest of the strategy involving something like skullclamp and thopter foundry considering the power level of a lot of the decks in the format, but Pyromancer is definitely doable.
