Would you go pro?

I was thinking the other day that if I miraculously became good enough to become a pro mtg player, I don't know if I would. It seems like it might drain the fun out of the game for me. I'm fairly spikey and don't have objections to net-decking, so it's not that. Maybe it's just a defense mechanism because I know I can't. What about others? Would you go pro? Why or why not? Assume you're good enough or could get good enough.

No, already takes up enough of my time as is.

I would love to at least consistently go to and do well in tournaments. I don't know though, as I haven't really played in enough (competitive) tournaments to know if it would be draining to do so.

If in this scenerio I am not in a relationship and have the funds to travel the world to compete, absolutely. Currently I am just wanting to go semi pro...scout all the surrounding big tournaments, maybe win a couple. Make somewhat of a name for myself. I would absolutely love to attend a pro tour...not even do well, just attend.

Dalektable -- Why no relationship, out of curiosity? My fiancee doesn't play magic, but she still will be traveling with me to GPs/Opens in other cities (once I have such a cash flow coming soon) just for the fun of it and to spend time together seeing different places.

Nigeltastic To play pro among the ranks of the top players, travel is almost constant. My current girlfriend would be up for traveling with me to a GP/Open/PTQ every once and awhile, but not on the scale that pros must travel.

Not enough money, too much travelling, and it's not really something that helps society at large.

I don't really enjoy playing intensely competitive games. Like calling people out for misplaying and stuff just inst my style, so probably not. I'd certainly like the idea of making money doing something I enjoy, but I get more enjoyment out of trying to win with obscure decks than trying to win with one of the same 3 or 4 deck archetypes that everyone else is using.

I love brewing decks and I love differing from the meta. And I also like getting credit for coming up with something new. I would love if going pro could happen, but I doubt it ever could for me. There's just not enough money in it, I don't think.

Alternatively, I'd love it if I could reach the caliber of someone like Marshall Sutcliffe or Evan Erwin. By that, I mean being a recognized name in the MTG community who can be an entertaining content creator and maybe sling a card or two in battle. I love MTG at its core, and I already spend probably 40% of every day thinking or doing something related with magic. I just need more opportunities to pop up is all :)

I would LOVE TO! It's always been my dream to go pro ever since I found out about these professional tournaments and started taking magic seriously.

I definitely feel I have the potential to. But first... I have to win Game Day :)

It would also be very cool to be one of the first "minors" to go pro. I almost got in the Top 8 of a PTQ once and I'm a minor :)

I would love to become a professional magic player. I just need to start actually getting some cards to use. And I'll start with this standard season, considering I just bought my entire mardu deck for cheaper on pre-release than what the cards are now. I also (used to) have my Kor Legions deck (upgraded it to splash ), so that I can use for modern events as well.
