Would you ever play Magic on a boat?

Obviously I mean like inside a cabin, I wouldn't expect people to consider playing on the deck where the wind can knock your cards into the water.

I like the sway of boats. It's calming. If I had a big enough boat that I and a few friends could legitimately stay on it for a weekend or so, then it would obviously have a cabin, and I feel like I would be willing to bring my Magic cards on board.

You bring electronics on boats...

So yes.

I don't see why not as long as they stay within the cabin (and you don't drop them into the water while boarding!).

I was really expecting this to become some kind of Dr. Seuss rhyme or something

bij, That's true. But I have a far stronger attachment to my EDH deck than some stupid iPod or whatever.

army, Sorry to disappoint.

In terms of value though...

In terms of value I can shoot my phone with a 12 gauge and get it replaced for free...Not particularly true about magic cards.

Depends, like i would totally bring a casual "kitchen table" deck that should something happen i can replace it for like, 5$, but i would never bring a 800$ modern/EDH deck on a boat

Lol, Im not sure why everyone seems paranoid that the boat is going to sink out of nowhere. Thats like saying "I wouldnt play cards in a house because it might burn down". Silliness. Ive played hundreds of games of magic on a variety of boats. Cmon now people...

I actually follow a Magic page on Instagram where a group of friends travel all over odd locations worldwide and play games of Magic. Locations include on a surfboard, at the beach, in the forest, on a police car, on an airplane, at a bar, and many more.I feel like personally with the value of cards I have in my decks I wouldn't play in most of those places, but with some junk and bulk cards I would construct a deck or two to play with. :)If anyone has Instagram and is interested, check out Mgcthetraveling

If you're expecting big waves, maybe keep your cards off the table. Otherwise, especially on like a cruise ship, game on

They actually used to have Magic cruises.

I'd be down on a boat. I'd probably have some sort of water-resistant/proof supply to carry it in of course.

I've played plenty of Magic on boats with my casual decks (including on canoes) but I would never bring my $500+ Modern deck on a small boat to play.

Seems fine. As long as I'm not on some raft or with idiots, why not? I'd be concerned about finding time to actually play though. Wouldn't I be doing, you know, boating stuff? I dunno. I can't see myself on a boat for an insanely long time.
