Would magic be better or worse if

If you could attack yourself?

Why?

-Fulcrum says... #2

I would say worse. Aren't creatures summoned by the "planeswalkers" themselves? If so, why would they attack their summoner? Are they rabid or is the player so bad that he/she can't retain control of his/her own magic?

Technically you can target yourself with Lightning Bolt and the like, and Archdemon of Greed  Flip is somewhat close to what you're proposing, but it just doesn't really make sense. Maybe a mechanic that benefits from masochism? In that case, I'd rather just have a pay life mechanic, like Underworld Connections .

Wait. If you can spull yourself then it makes no sense that you can't order a creature you control to attack yourself.

There are loads of things that trigger when creatures do damage. Teneb, the Harvester

I have always thought that question when playing edh. Then my friend Mindslaver s me. I am thankful that he can't make me attack myself with my own clique with Batterskull and Sword of Light and Shadow . Otherwise, it would add another dimension to the game, though there only be specific circumstances to actually attack yourself .

I think that it's interesting, but way too situational. Maybe you could use it to fight the pulses, but I dunno.

miracleHat: If you use your Batterskull ed clique, you'd gain the same amount of life you lost, 'cause lifelink. Also, He's in control of yourself, so Sword of Light and Shadow 's ability would HAVE to be used on YOUR graveyard...

If anything, you oughta be attacking yourself from the beginning

@TheAmazingSalsa; In retrospect, had he been able to attack me, next turn he would've Acquire d me again, drawn another sword (i think body and mind) and killed me. I had no creatures in my graveyard. I will say, playing a mono blue deck against another mono blue deck is a very tedious game of countering the Misdirection targeting my Hinder against his Memnarch .

ugh, the game must've been disgusting, hehe.

Personally, I don't like playing control on EDH games, they take the fun out of it, imo.

Currently building a Jin-Gitaxias edh for when I'm feeling like a grumpy prawn.

I like playing "free" counterspells. My friend (you must be wondering how were friends) likes playing cards that give him card advantage.

While i battle it out with him, the 2 Oloro, Ageless Ascetic decks are sitting there. I have a very cruel playgroup!

@Jp3ngu1nb0y, if you ever need help with it just ask me! I have been playing mono blue for 3 years now, and i think i know it pretty well. Also, you might as well start writing apology letters now and save yourself the time.

Any suggestions for cheap and finite must-haves?

miracleHat I can already tell from these combos that someone in the game will feel miserable

Eh, i run all of those in my mono blue edh deck, though skipping out on certain cards.

Also, i am kind of known as that sarcastic jackass that is always making others in my playgroup laugh and joke around. Something that i have learned from edh, it isn't just playing mtg. Being with other people and interacting/socializing with them makes edh that much more fun.

And you still have the balls of going mono-blue? Hahahah

I decided to use a Talrand, Sky Summoner EDH once, I lost a LOT of friends that night :P

@TheAmazingSalsa, i actually never planned on going mono blue in edh (i had already played many types of control in mono blue 60 constructed) until that one night.

My friend invited me to his card shop to draft. We get to the shop and we were just in time since the draft started in 5 minutes. We sign up and the unfortunate saying was spoken to us, "you are late and we are already filled. sorry". So my friend says, you know what, i have this money, i will get 2 modern masters packs.

He handpicks two packs, and he says, "here is to 4 Tarmogoyf 's!" and opens shit. When i say shit, i mean Meloku the Clouded Mirror and something else (Molten Disaster comes to mind). I tell him, "man, you can't open up shit fo yo life!"

I swagger up to the desk and ask, "may i have two modern master packs please?". I handpick my two packs and open the first one. I pull a Knight of the Reliquary and a F Kitchen Finks (which at the time payed for that pack). I open the second pack and see 3/1 and blue. It was a Vendilion Clique and since then, my friend refuses to invite me to that card shop :)

Just letting you know that it was only 2 packs.

Funny thing happened afterwords. M15 Prerelease and he goes black. He gets ~ 5 black cards. So he goes u/r evasion combat tricks and gets first.
