In honor of the new Scry Mulligan, why not share some weird stories of regrettable and downright funny mulligan decisions. I'll start:

It was a Magic origins draft and there were 5 lands, a Ghirapur Gearcrafter, and an Outland Colossus in my starting hand. I keep, going second. I draw a Goblin Glory Chaser, then next turn a 2-drop, then a Pharika's Disciple, making perfect tempo plays out of pure luck. It was hilarious.

Was playing against UTron in G3 and mulliganed to a 6-Card no land hand with Leyline of the Void. Stayed in the game long enough to Treasure Cruise three times in two turns, but ended up losing to an Aven Mindcensor

I was playing a UB control variant at FNM against a kid who normally drafts but was using a friends RDW deck. I don't remember my opening hand exactly, but it had everything I needed as long as I drew another removal spell or two. I proceed to draw into land - DTT - DTT - DTT - Ugin...

Was playing RW Burn at my LGS's Modern night last Thursday:

Mulled to 6 - 3 Mountains, Monastery Swiftspear and 2 Lightning Bolts.

I drew kept drawing into burn spells for the next three turns and just kinda bashed his face in. It was fun.

I kept a 6 Mountain hand against Suicide black in legacy once and drew nothing but gas to get there on turn 4. Seemed pretty good.

Playing Skred Red against infect. On the draw, I mulled my first hand of all the dragons in my deck, I had drawn into two Snow-Covered Mountains, two Simian Spirit Guides, Chandra, Pyromaster, and a Skred. he dropped a Breeding Pool, Glistener Elf, go. mountain, draws Lightning Bolt, skred the elf, go. He drops another elf, go. I draw Boros Reckoner, exile both Simian Spirit Guides, play a mountain and Chandra, Pyromaster, ping his dude, go. Drops another 1/1 infect guy, go. I draw another skred, ping his dude (6 loyalty), go. He plays a fetch and shocks another Breeding Pool and another dude, go. I draw a mountain, play it and reckoner, go for ping (7 loyalty), and he Vines of Vastwoods his guy go. He swings, I let it through, and he pumps with a Mutagenic Growth and Giant Growth, going to 6 infect. Drawing another mountain (4 snow permanents), swing with boros reckoner, he's at 13, I ult chandra, hitting a Lightning Bolt, hitting him for 9 (at 4), then skreded boros reckoner for the W. Chandra pings OP.

Mulliganed to five in Soul Sisters, kept a 1 land hand with a CMC of a little more than 1 on the play. Got Evil Presenced on turn one. Rage scooped.

I was at a modern GP Trial, and I was on Jund. My opponent was on Affinity. Game 1 went well for me.

But Game 2 was that legendary mulligan.

I kept a hand of 1x Marsh Flats, 1x Blackcleave Cliffs, 1x Dark Confidant, 1x Shatterstorm, 2x Lightning Bolt

I took a picture of it on my phone, said "I will keep it. But I want you to see this when this game is over."

I drew nothing but gas, stabilized at 9 life. Played Shatterstorm right on time. the turn after I dropped 2 Tarmogoyfs and said he could "tap out" any time he wants to. He scooped starting down an empty board, and 2x 6/7 goyfs.

I showed him the picture and he laughed and told me I had giant nuts.

gnarlicide That's a snap keep. Not really ballsy, IMO.

Im not really a modern player, but that hand seems good.

GlistenerAgent, I agree with you, but at the same time from my experience with jund vs aggressive decks I would have shipped it. the only reason why I kept it was shatter storm. but a lot could have gone wrong in the meantime.

I mulligan busted hands away all the time at the kitchen table, simply to raise the odds that my opponent has fun. I only do this against casuals, of course. Anywhere else, there is no mercy.

Took a mulligan to 3 cards at FNM playing R/G/u Tron. I kept getting no-land hands. After shuffling vigorously, I draw my three cards which were were Ancient Stirrings, Chromatic Star, and Urza's Tower.

Turn one: play Urza's Tower and Chromatic Star.

Turn two: Draw Urza's Mine, activate Chromatic Star, draw Urza's Power Plant, play Ancient Stirrings, reveal Karn Liberated.

Turn three: Play Karn Liberated, exile Kiln Fiend (I'm at something like 4 life).

Turn four: Draw and play Wurmcoil Engine -> proceed to victory.

The top decks were absolutely nuts.

I've mulliganed to four playing Tron before and won, but that was the first time I'd won going that low.

The other ridiculous win I had was playing Jund Blitz back in RtR-Theros Standard versus Mono-Black Devotion in top 4 of a $100 cash prize tournament. I had gone down to 4 cards after seeing several no-land or all-land hands.

If I remember right, the four cards were Overgrown Tomb, Rakdos Cackler, Firefist Striker, and Dreg Mangler. I draw the needed lands two turns in a row and curved out perfectly. So it looked like:

Turn one: Overgrown Tomb -> Rakdos Cackler

Turn two: Draw land, attack with Rakdos Cackler, play Firefist Striker.

Turn three: Draw land, play Dreg Mangler, trigger battalion so Pack Rat can't block, drop my opponent to 11. On his turn, he plays scry land and passes.

Turn four: Draw Ghor-Clan Rampager, swing with everyone, trigger battalion again, bloodrush for 11 damage even.

The scry land coming into play tapped is what killed him. He showed me his hand (not to mention Pack Rat's ability), which was Herald of Torment, Hero's Downfall, Desecration Demon, and Nightveil Specter.
