Why is Splice onto Arcane good?

I am usually pretty good at playing decks and finding synergies. But with Splice onto Arcane I do not really get the point. In Ari Lax's video playing Gory combo he says Nourishing Shoal is counter hate. But when you splice a spell, the opponent only has to counter that one spell and you just got 2 for 1ed. I don't get it. Why is splice good? Sometimes it saves you one or two mana but in the case of Goryo's Vengeance it costs more! Why?

This isn't a rules question, but the point has been thoroughly covered.

This sounds more like a rules question, which belongs in the Q&A, but I'll let Epochalyptik decide if that's the case.
When you read the reminder text for Splice it says: "As you cast an Arcane spell; you may reveal this card from your hand and pay its splice cost. If you do add this card's effects to that spell." (emphasis mine)
So the Goryo's Vengeance is still in your hand when you splice it onto another Arcane spell, like Nourishing Shoal. So if the Shoal gets countered, the Goryo's Vengeance never leaves your hand.
