Whats your favorite passive card?

In group games, what card can you put down that helps you do very well, while being almost completely unnoticeable to opponents?

If you want to gain some control on the board, while also keeping the attention on your opponents (so they attack each other instead of you) what do you use?

What the best most PASSIVE card you know? :D

This probably varies dramatically from playgroup to playgroup. But as for personal favorites, Vedalken Orrery/Leyline of Anticipation tend to hit the board relatively unnoticed, but they give me so much subtle power over the boardstate with the ability to leave all of my mana open during everybody else's turns. Instant-speed blockers, untapped islands for counterspelling, even instant-speed auras and other various boardstate affecting permanents.

It's amazing how much control and flexibility you get from that kind of ability, and how easily it flies under the radar of other players.

The most passive (aggressive) card that I play is Possibility Storm. It's everyone's love hate relationship. Like they don't like certain outcomes sometimes, but it turns the game into what I imagine commander should be, just a wacky fun time playing Magic, and people usually stick to beating on each other because they want to keep playing with PS on the board.

But if this isn't the sort of answer that you're looking for, i'd have to say Etherium-Horn Sorcerer. It can provide so much hidden advantage over the course of a game, because no one notices one instance of cascade, but it usually delivers something around 4 mana's worth of power every time, and bouncing it back to the hand every other turn is nuts. I can usually get it down 3-4 times before someone notices just how large my board has gotten.

There are several and I really like some of the cards already mentioned (Etherium-Horn Sorcerer is, as DevoidMage said, gold).

To add to the discussion: small critters with deathtouch. Nobody bothers with them, but people leave you alone since you have a deathtouch creature. Ophiomancer comes to mind , and you wouldn't believe how long Venomous Dragonfly kept me safe (though I really dislike the high cmc on that one)

For me it's always been No Mercy. I play with 2 other people usually and the game gets pretty amussing when I play this. Oh crap its on the field...2 turns later I'll attack you and all my creatures die....

Casting Strands of Night always gets me a confused "okay?". They only realise its impact after I activate it, and they reread it, noticing the "to the battlefield" clause.

Well one that doesn't necessarily sneak by but ALWAYS takes the heat off of me in group EDH games is the great Edric, Spymaster of Trest, but if we're talking about lesser-known ones, I second the Selvala, Explorer Returned in EDH. Can't tell you the number of times I've ignored my friend's deck that runs her, only to get totally wrecked in like one turn. I also enjoy using Thassa, God of the Sea. No one cares much about the scrying each turn, and she almost never becomes a creature, so she just sits there until you finally put out your Consuming Aberration/Guiltfeeder or High Tide & make a bunch of infect creatures unblockable for the win. Fun stuff!

Invoke Prejudice is a card I adore. It always just sits there and my opponents forget about it until they try to cast a creature only to remember they essentially have to pay double or it gets countered.

I have a love/hate relationship with Suture Priest. It provides a lot of small pokes that most people don't worry too much about, but you really have to pay attention and I have to say I don't always pay attention as well as I should in a group game.

Blood Artist is the other one that stands out for me. Most people don't want to waste removal on a 0/1, but the cost of sweeping the board with him out can be devastating for them.
