What's your favorite color? Why?

I had an interesting conversation with some folks in my playgroup the other day. They were talking to me about how much they liked blue. I understood why; both like all the sneaky, clever tactics, control and card draw it allows.

But it's just not my thing, I told them. I like white. When I remove something, I don't want it to go to someone's hand, or to steal it from them. I want it to be gone forever! Counterspells? Nah, I'm cool with stuff resolving. It's much more funny to me to let the big play happen and then make it irrelevant, because I can make things indestructible or give protection from a color. Or damage just isn't going to happen. Or I can just blow up the board.

Plus, lots and lots of creatures. I've got this Timmy-Johnny thing going on where I like smacking people hard with creatures, but instead of having huge fatties I like having legions of smaller things to play around with in interesting and unexpected ways. White's great for that, particularly when paired with another color.

So, what about you? What is your favorite color in Magic? Not necessarily the best, but the one you get the most enjoyment out of. What do you like about it?

Green. Has the best color-cased ramp (Mystics, Karametra's Acolyte, all the land searching) and all the fatties you'd ever need to win. Have tons of mana? Run hydras, or just massive beasts. Need trample or other buffs? There's enchantments for that. Running tokens? Yup, it can do that too (Doubling Season, Parallel Lives). It might not be aggro like red but mid-range green decks are probably my favorite thing to run against anything that's not control.

Green is pretty awesome! Selesnya's my favorite color pairing for the very reasons you named. The two colors play so nicely together.

My favourite color has to be black, simply because I don't like anyone having anything. Also black does everything: it draws cards Necropotence, kills creatures Terror, kills all the creatures Damnation, kills your opponents hands Thoughtseize, kills lands Sinkhole and best of all kills your opponents spirits Pox. Sounds like a jolly old time if you ask me.

Red. It's quick and cheap and you can take out your opponents before they even know what hits em. Burn spells are always a fun time and pairs well with any other color. I know i'm alone in this but my least favorite is definitely green.

Blue, I get to draw cards, more cards and even more cards! Then I can say no, no, no, no and make people very sad while I laugh in their faces.

Black, the amount of shenanigans that it can do with tutors, drawing cards, and straight up killing everything (except enchantments) is amazing.

@ benzzer853: That is usually the consensus from players who favor blue! I certainly understand the appeal.

Its blue. You have access to the highest power cards of all time (Ancestral Recall, Time Walk etc.) and having permission over the game is fun. The look on your opponent's face when you counter their best spell should be enough to switch you over to a blue mage.

Blue. Oh God yes! To play blue is to quest for meaning, knowledge, power, purpose, and mastery. I love both the thematic and gameplay aspects of the color.

For me this is an obvious answer.

Purple.

If you don't believe it is a color, check this link.

I'm constantly running green and blue in some sort of fashion. I can't decide which of the two I like more.

I'd have to say black myself. While I have no specific draws to any color, I love the sheer utility that black has over any other color. It can do almost everything- draw cards (Night's Whisper, Necropotence), gain life (Corrupt, Exquisite Blood), kill things (Doom Blade, Hero's Downfall), ramp (Dark Ritual) and so on with the exception of 1 thing-it can't remove artifacts or enchantments

Funny story: I got into Magic by buying a 7th Edition starter pack that had two built-in decks. One was R/G and the other was U/W. I was the only kid in my playgroup who bought that thing; everyone else built their collection by cracking tons of boosters, most of them from Torment, so they all had a lot of black cards. I envied them.

Since then, I've developed kind of an obsession with black. I sold most of my cards a while ago, including a bunch of foils, but I just couldn't let go of my foil Filth (not that it was worth much anyway, but whatever). I splash black into stuff that shouldn't have black in it. I smile when someone drops a turn 1 Swamp while playing against me, even if they follow it up with a Thoughtseize and ruin my whole gameplan. I love deathtouch, I love anything Orzhov, I love reanimating shit, I love vampires, I love Innistrad, I even love 8-rack for fuck's sake. I'm so devoted to black Gary would be proud of me. And I hate Wizards for being so shitty towards black the last few years, with a few notable exceptions.

Red. Red is always best. Red magic is the best magic. Ignore creatures, deal damage to their face, win game.

Black. Learned to play on a blue black deck with a mill win con. I love weird win cons and interactions. Black is just so fun and you can do so many tricks with I. Card draw kill spells mana ramp and huge creatures. Top it off with awesome effects and keywords.
