How many cards has an average M:TG player actually played against?
Help me find out by going to Gatherer. Then press the random button until you see a card that you have legitimately seen in play, either by you or against you in real life. Report what card and what number it was. Then do the same for online if that's your thing.

The first random card I got was Island
The second time I did it it was five and the card was Telepathy

My first hit was Drudge Skeletons, 2 deep.
Only took me a half dozen tries to get the spelling- whether it was Dreg or Dredge or Drudge, Skeleton or Skeletons...

I chose to go for cards that i've seen in sanctioned play only, turned out not too bad.
1st attempt: Rootborn Defenses 3rd card
2nd attempt: Treetop Village 2nd card
3rd attempt: Shriekmaw 5th card
4th attempt: Mulldrifter 1st card
5th attempt: Island 15th card (Passed several Standard and EDH staples, the second card I got would have been if I would have stuck with standard)
6th attempt: Wastes 1st card
7th attempt: Taiga [Beta] 2nd card, I have played against a beta taiga
8th attempt: Locket of Yesterdays 1st card
9th attempt: Plains 4th card
10th attempt: Satyr Wayfinder 5th card
I thought this was fairly interesting. Sans Basic lands, I'd say that I have decent reach with the only real oddballs coming from a strain of EDH cards or draft cards that are older than I am.

Mostly lands and stuff I've seen in commander/standard. I was useless at the older ones though (with the exception of stuff I searched for to build commander decks).

After three goes I had Path to Exile, the cards I had with the other two attempts were either very bad (Lava Dart) or very expensive (Timetwister) so haven't seen them in play yet

If I understand the question correctly: The first hit was Erg Raiders, which was the second random card.
