What is the Greatest Number of Times that You Have Copied a Single Spell?

General forum

Copying spells has long been a popular strategy for many players, and some players have sufficient skill to copy a single spell multiple times, so I wish to ask the other users of this forum about the great number of times that they have copied a single spell.

The best that I, myself, have managed to do, thus far, is copy a spell only twice: once with Ral, Storm Conduit and once with Riku of Two Reflections, but I do hope that I eventually will be able to copy a spell more times than that, especially since I recently added Dualcaster Mage to my red/blue/green EDH deck.

What does everyone else here have to say about this subject? What is the greatest number of times that you have copied a single spell?

Infinitely, with Naru Meha, Master Wizard and Ghostly Flicker!

Similarly with Dualcaster, Isochron Scepter (copies a card, but casts as a spell, idk if that counts), etc.

Four times.

I had cast Ral, Storm Conduit before casting Repeated Reverberation.

Don't you guys know that copying spells is wrong? It's piracy. Artists work extremely hard to make original spells and deserve to make a fair living from their efforts. Copying spells and using them on the black market robs these poor artists of their fair wages and leaves them mired in poverty. Shame on you all, you're worse than Napster!

I would never copy a spell. (But please don't check into that, just take my word, yeah.)

During a constructed event a long time ago, I used the Djinn Illuminatus to put an infinite amount of giant tokens into play with Pact of the Titan. I cant remember what i used to give them haste. I think it was Anger or Fervor. Drawing a blank on what else i ran in the deck besides a counter spell suite and mana accel.

With the Djinn Illuminatus you can replicate any spell as many times as you can pay it's cmc. And the pact's cmc is 0, of course. And you need to win in the turn you do it or the pact triggers will kill you!

I am still waiting to see someone casty an infinite number of spells and then see someone respond with casting Flusterstorm and create an infinite number of Flusterstorm copies. That would be sick.

DeinoStinkus, I am sorry that I need to ask, but how does that combo work?

MagicMarc, can you imagine if an opponent had cast a Rakdos Charm after you generated those infinite tokens? That would have been very bad.

I have copied yes spells. I think I might be able to set up a combo that lets you cast every spell in your deck for all eternity.

Epic Experiment for something like X = 30+, have Mnemonic Nexus, and a handful of Reverberate effects. Include Hornet Sting and Life Burst to circumvent the forced loop limits, and you can cast every spell in your deck forever.

DeinoStinkus not only did you not mention Teferi, Temporal Archmage's ultimate, which seems a little important, but also, Narset's Reversal actually says you bounce the spell, so you can't target that spell with later reversals, or the resolving copy of Narset's Reversal (due to the copy then fizzling before it resolves).

It would take 2 blue mana to deal 1 damage so unless you have infinite blue mana as well, your combo doesn't work infinitely, even though you did add cards afterwards to it.

SynergyBuild says... #17

DeinoStinkus Yes, but that bounces it, so when that reversal resolves, the only legal target is the resolving reversal.

When that happens, because the one on the stack that is resolving will finish before the other one resolves (also a round of priority will be had), the legal target that was chosen is now gone, as it was a copy of the original. That means that there is no legal target, and the 2nd copy will fizzle. There is no way to make that function.

Do you need a different explanation of why your combo on every level doesn't work?

SynergyBuild says... #18

DeinoStinkus Like, I don't want to mess with you, play it out in paper, make tokens of the copies, you'll see it doesn't work.

XD haven't all 4ish of the combos you brought up so far in the forums needed additional cards added and haven't worked?

DemonDragonJ; During that same tournament; someone cast the equivalent of Fog on me as I went infinite with the giants. So I ended my turn with thousands of the pact triggers waiting to kill me. My opponent took his turn, drew, and knocked,(ended his turn). Boom! I died.

But I loved playing the deck. It was very Izzet with the win explosively or die explosively gameplay.

I have cast a Repeated Reverberation on a Howl of the Horde after attacking once. I only then cast a Harrow and followed it up with Chandra's Ignition for lethal to the rest of the table (for 6 copies in addition to the original spell on both Harrow and Chandra's Ignition)

It's a shame my Omnath, Locus of the Roil got removed before the lands came into play :<

SynergyBuild says... #21

plakjekaas How did you get 6 copies on both spells?

Both only trigger on the next spell in that turn, not all of them.

plakjekaas says... #22

You're right, I just got to find all my basics, I think the Chandra's Ignition was lethal anyway and I remembered it wrong
