Hey everybody,

War of the Sparks is now completely spoilered.

Which cards do you think will have an impact in the older formats? Card and deck would be really appreciated. :-)

I forsee the one-karn combo becoming a thing in modern (and I sincerely hope that when someone designs that deck, they do in fact name the deck one-karn combo)

As a modern 8 rack player, I'm debating the elderspell as a sb option for planeswalkers, and I'm certain most other black decks are too. I'm also excited about liliana's triumph for 8 rack, and I know many of my 8 rack brethren are excited for davriel though personally i think he's just a budget alternative to lili

I think that Narset, Parter of Veils could be a fine alternative to Spirit of the Labyrinth , and Gideon Blackblade as a playable member of UW control and Mono-white 11-Chad(Gideon).

I sincerely believe most of the Planeswalkers in WAR will see high amounts of play in commander.

Well, I think the new Finale of Devastation will see EDH and modern play as a Green Sun's Zenith + Reanimate (You get 2 creatures), maybe legacy nic-fit play too? seems really strong IMO.

I am pretty excited about Finale of Revelation as an outlet for infinite mana. I love how draws your deck and then untaps lands so you can immediately play a Laboratory Maniac and a cantrip for victory.

SynergyBuild - you only get one creature with Finale of Devastation . The "and/or" refers to the places you are allowed to search (you have the option of only searching graveyard so you do not need to shuffle library), and does not modify how many creatures you can retrieve.

P.S. I've moved this thread to General; Deck Help is for asking for feedback and advice about decks not covered in other subforums.

Except for one or two cards I think, that War will be mostly a sideboard set for older formats.

But for sideboard there are some pretty nice inclusions:

Ashiok, Dream Render , Narset, Parter of Veils , Angrath's Rampage , Liliana's Triumph , Return to Nature for example.

yeah sideboards will definitely benefit the most from this set, but i think theres a lot of potential.

i noticed theres another doran effect, and maybe one day that critical mass will be achieved. never forget your first ptq top 8!

Ilharg, the Raze-Boar is redundancy(ish) for the breach decks,

and personally im interested in Evolution Sage .

Blast Zone looks like its going to be so broken to me. its definitely not and its slow as balls, but its EE on a land. thats going to be broken, right?

Fblthp, the Lost is a shifted visionary. maybe that will be something.

i want Banehound to be something.

Spark Harvest replaces bone splinters, right? ive wished i could hardcast splinters so many times

Chandra, Fire Artisan can actually hit lands this time, if that means anything to you

Grim Initiate is another card for aristocrats, and its common too. Heartfire kind of fits in there too as an any-creature shrapnel blast, but i really dont like that one point of damage it loses. and Cruel Celebrant is yet another blood artist for modern.

Sarkhan the Masterless seems cool if anyones still playing superfriends. i feel like theyre in need of a closer.

Bond of Flourishing probably doesnt get there, but it is now a card.

Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner is a worse, cheaper garruk for nykthos decks. double triggers off Genesis Hydra sounds pretty sweet though.

i personally think Saheeli, Sublime Artificer has potential too
