Alright, fellows, I just saw this one card, Treasure Cruise , and then I thought about Jace's Ingenuity . What is the difference between these two? It would seem jace's serves better utility than the other card. Perhaps you could enlighten me?

This isn't really a rules question

Treasure Cruise is commonly cast for U or 1U via its delve ability making better than Jace's Ingenuity in almost all situations. If you are trying to cast Treasure Cruise for its full cost you are doing something wrong

Only rules questions should be asked in the Q&A. This question should be asked in the main forums, probably standard.

Epochalyptik should be along shortly to deal with this.

In a vacuum, casting Treasure Cruise for U just becomes Ancestral Recall . If you're just joining us, that's damn broken. So if you look at deck lists around standard, you might be wondering why no one's running this thing. The simple answer is that between Dig Through Time and this, it'll be too hard to fill up your graveyard and you'll end up getting maybe 2 colorless off the casting cost to begin with. In a format like Legacy, casting Treasure Cruise for full value is doable and nets you a lot of stuff. In Standard, however, people prefer to just cast Jace's Ingenuity . At least that's the general trend people are going for from what I can tell.

a few things to consider: Delve can make Treasure Cruise much easier to cast, but you have to consider that 1. it is a sorcery, and 2. there are other delve spells seeing play such as Murderous Cut and Dig Through Time which limits the number of these spells you can run. Although more expensive, Jace's Ingenuity is an instant that will always cost 5 and doesn't rely on the gy to be playable. which one you choose to play largely depends on how you are going to use it. If you are playing a control deck, the instant speed of ingenuity is much more valuable. In a more aggressive deck, I would rather play cruise

Its essentially Ancestral Recall at sorcery speed, target player=you, not restricted, and in every format

I call bs on not being able to get Treasure Cruise down to or less multiple times in a game, even with running Dig Through Time as well. I have cast all 5 delve spells for 3 mana or less in a single game.
