Underrated

What deck, card or archetype do you think is underrated in a MtG constructed format? It could be a pet deck, a deck that does well locally but doesn't seem to get over the hump at large events or a recent printing that you think deserves some more respect.

Personally, I think Gifts is underrated in Modern while Dredge is a bit underplayed in Legacy. People also need to catch on to Stratus Dancer. :)

Living end and Jeskai Ascendancy combo. They're both frickin awesome and competitive.

U/G Ramp in Standard, Mardu Aggro/Tokens in Standard, and R/W Twin in Modern.

Storm hasn't been seeing a lot of love in Modern, and it really should be getting some good results due to the power of the deck.

Also I think Gifts decks are a little too slow for most players, that's why they don't see quite as much play.

As for specific cards, people should take a second look at how great Drogskol Reaver is in EDH. I've won games solely due to it before, mainly since card draw + double strike = awesome.

Ehh... Drogskol Reaver is a poor man's Consecrated Sphinx.

@TheDevicer But Consecrated Sphinx gets hated off the board instantly or gets cloned. Drogskol Reaver benefits you more than them if you do clone it, and it also has more pressure than a Consecrated Sphinx. Now I'm not saying that it is better, because the sphinx is superior. But it's more of a "why not both?" moment.

Plus it's much scarier when you slap some Sword of X and Y's onto it than a Consecrated Sphinx

They're both high costing flier that draw. You're going for a pretty top-heavy curve if you're planning on including both. Decks that run Reaver tend to already be above 3.0 as is. It's rough. Besides, if you're equipping him with swords, he'll draw as much hate as the sphinx anyways and that requires two cards. Sphinx is just something you toss out. If he survives around the table, he's usually something like a Opportunity at sorcery speed on a body. Maybe better. Anything that demands an immediate answer in EDH is pretty nice. I like Reaver, but I cringe most times I see him in my hand and I way the cost of tapping out for him. He ends up being too slow for his worth. Now if he sticks, however...

Mardu in general in modern

People will one day realize that Crackling Doom and Outpost Siege are the best thing since sliced bread

Mardu aggro. Especially in modern.

Crackling Doom? Maybe. Outpost Siege? Yiiishhhh... I don't really like the idea of that as my 4-drop.

Outpost Siege is actually rather sweet in midrange mirrors. I witnessed that firsthand.

I have won games after games after games vs all sorts of decks with that card. First one serves as an extra draw, saving you from top decking lands and running out of gas. It does this with zero life payment. Play this is a grindy shell.

Second one can do the same but you also get a hard to remove pseudo blood artist.

lemmingllama: I like that combo decks like storm have a way of self-moderating. If, for example, Storm becomes too powerful, players begin loading their sideboards with anti-Strom cards. Storm becomes hated out and sees less play, eventually causing players to replace the storm hate with more relevant sideboard cards, and the cycle continues.

U/G in every format. Bloom titan for modern, Morph for standard. I don't know about older formats but I'm sure somethign could be made. For commander it's not underrated, at least not by me.

asasinater13: played against some awesome Simic Morph stuff at FNM post-Khans but pre-Fate. There's a lot of good cards for it.

and now it gets better. manifest for card advantage and Deathmist Raptor. might be worth splashing white for that great manifest card that gains life that I can't remember the name of. but it's a real thing that is really unplayed. If I were in standard and there weren't already someone playing it, I would be playing that.

I will argue for Monastery Siege's playability forever.

I don't know if it'll be undervalued anymore after this weekend (at least it felt like I saw it a lot), but Den Protector is pretty underrated right now in standard. I think partly because it's a morph creature. However, even in decks that aren't taking advantage of manifest, paying 5 mana for an Eternal Witness ability and 3/2 body with pseudo evasion isn't too bad right now. Then any deck making use of manifest just gets even more value with it potentially having to not invest the initial 3 to cast it as a morph.
