Theros Dual lands.

There's been some talk about the Theros dual lands in my local shop. I've been told they might be uncommon dual lands or maybe even lands like Vivid Grove . I'm very confused...

I hope they won't print the duals as legendary versions of the original duals; I don't like drawing land that won't actually be able to consistently improve the amount of mana I can spend.

While I wish good lands would be printed at lower rarities, I agree with wizards' stance on printing them at rare+. It's just really frustrating sometimes when you have to shell out $100+ for your mana bases, but I guess the same could be said for any other card. Bottom line though, we'll still pay money to play this game.

I can easily see a legendary cycle of lands in the style of post #14. It would be a really good cycle though.

What I do want is a 10 card cycle of River of Tears -esque lands. Where it's like River of Tears , but then there's another land that goes

"add B to your mana pool. If you played a land this turn, add U to your mana pool instead".

But what I really want is for wizards to finish the cycle they started in WWK and print enemy colored manlands.

Maybe they will print enemy scars lands. They would be "new" dual lands, but would complete a cycle

From what I gather, whatever duals they end up printing will cover all 10 guild combinations. That's not to say the lands will be great or even rare. The dual cycle in Theros could easily be slower, clunkier, and uncommon. Who's to say until spoiler season.

River of Tears cycle seems the most likely to me. 1.) It doesn't bring Nimbus Maze problems. 2.) It seems to fit the mythology the most

The land stated above would be crazy in aggro decks, just saying. Turn ONE Burning Trees should never happen. This is coming from a Naya Humans player.

Naves1995, Wizards is trying to weaken the mana bases in standard, not strengthen them. So in Theros you won't see any reprints or awesome dual lands. See, the mana bases now are amazing, too good to be exact. Weakening the mana bases would be peffered for now. They may print uncommon dual lands at that. From what I've heard they may even reprint Vivid lands. Lol, I'm pretty sure Morning Tide Dual lands will NOT be reprinted in Theros, let alone the Futureshifted dual lands.

One cool idea I've seen floated around would be legendary duals with basic land types. So Legendary Land- Plains Island. MaRo did say that Theros would have a higher than usual number of legendary permanents.

It would be nice if the trade-off for being legendary would be something like Horizon Canopy or even Krosan Verge . Then you're not ending up with dead cards as often.

shamanicgreen, I'm almost positive they will NOT give the duals basic land types. That'd be too powerful, especially for modern.

just make them mythics...that'll balance them right?

Mindblaze , I wouldn't doubt if they did something like Krosan Verge ,

Mindblaze could be an interesting card for EDH...lol

I'm almost positive the duals will be legendary and will have some sort of restriction. Like I said, Wizards is trying tho weaken our fantastic mana bases in standard.

From what has been hinted at since M14's release, I suspect these dual lands will be slower. The fact that it got the writer excited means they are a new take.

If it is an uncommon set, I would wager they would have the ability: "When ~ enters the battlefield, return an untapped land to your hand." It is much better than the Comes Into Play Tapped lands of old, but is slow.

Another option would be a mono colored land that allows you to tap and sacrifice it to search for a specific mono colored basic land. Such as a land with the ability "Add U to your mana pool. Tap and Sacrifice ~: Search your library for a swamp and put it onto the battlefield tapped."

I really can't see how they could be rare.

I've had at least three people mention Future Sight's Nimbus Maze at our store in recent days. The flavour fits too...

@pip74205: The effect would need to specify basic land. Your example can find any land with the Swamp subtype. It also needs to say "Swamp card."

From what i've heard, it's more-or-less confirmed that the land cycle will be fitting in the theme of Nimbus Maze . We'll probably see NM itself as well. Future frame card and whatnot.
