So who likes the 'Archenemy' idea?

I bought the 'Assemble the Doomsday Machine' Archenemy deck today, and so far I'm loving it. So many good cards! The scheme thing is pretty rockin' as well... (at least, I think so!).

How do you guys feel about the concept?

I LOVE archenemy. It's one of my favourite formats. I usually play 5 man vs Enemy games. My friends and I all got different decks and then tweaked them. If you have the promo schemes, stuff can get ridiculous too.

Sounds pretty awesome! My boyfriend bought the dragon deck, and that's now his favorite deck.

Imagine combining Emperor with Archenemy...ouch. ;D

Archenemy is fun, but tough to balance with decks other than the precons. Still figuring it out.

The decks come with a lot of good cards... (Avatar of Woe , Master Transmuter , Ryusei, the Falling Star , Memnarch , etc...) but only become really unstoppable when you tweak it.

My boyfriend added more green and black to the dragon deck when he got it, and put in some more multi-colored dragons. Now it's kinda ridiculously awesome.

I played with my new Archenemy deck last night, without changing it at all... and it did really well, even without the Archenemy cards to help it. I freaking love Magister Sphinx .... just sayin'....

I've played Archenemy Elder Dragon Highlander. I've been the Archenemy a bunch of times with my Mayael the Anima deck, and it's hilarious fun times. I love the format, but I don't use the pre-con Schemes; trial and error has shown that some schemes seem kind of cool at the time (e.g., I Bask in Your Silent Awe) but really aren't particularly effective. My friends and I are planning to be especially crazy some time and combine Archenemy AND Planechase.

honeymomo and I recently each piloted two decks a piece against our friend's Archenemy deck. We lost; multiple times. He doesn't run many creatures, his deck is basically board wipe + things like Howling Banshee , Blood Tithe , Earthquake ...

Those, coupled with the Archenemy schemes that let you barf up lands or gain life make him pretty much untouchable. There needs to be a happy medium.

I want to build a more budget-ish deck to play until I find a big deal on some cards I want to buy. This because taxes on Brazil are so high, that an Ephara would cost 12 USD if dollars were the currency here (and the cheap ones).

I found that Channel Fireball have a lot of cards I want for a really cheap price. But the shipping is soooo expensive that unless I buy some Foil Walker/Brimaz to sell, it will be the same price of buying here (notice that I probably wouldn't find a place to sell then, because, as I said, they're so expensive that shops would hardly profit on foil mythics).

So, I came with this: I have money to buy a WW with Brimaz or 2 Epharas and two Hallowed Fountain ; or a RDW with 4 Prophetic Flamespeaker .

It's being to be said that Flamespeaker will rise, but I particularly find Fountains and Epharas more useful on close future, because I want to play Bant flash until RTR block rotates (even some months after rotation).

Is it to risky to invest on Prophetic Flamespeaker ? Would Brimaz, King of Oreskos be a better deal for standard than Hallowed Fountain s?

Glad for your attention

I also looking for Prophetic Flamespeaker . He is constanly rising since he is playing in Modern and Legacy. My suggestion is to buy them as soon as possible.

Prophetic Flamespeaker is making a splash in Modern in Jund, but I'm not entirely sure if it's because he's effective or if opponents don't recognize he's a threat. As far as I'm concerned, his effectiveness and the amount of people using him is still up in the air somewhat.

I'm also not entirely sure if Brimaz, King of Oreskos is played anywhere but Standard. If not, then his price will plummet when he eventually rotates out. But Hallowed Fountain and other shock lands are basically the lowest you're going to find them for a while. In a year's time, I wouldn't be surprised (and actually, I'm counting) on them being $20-30.

The shocklands aren't likely to become that exspensive that quickly. In time sure but not that fast. They are however the most solid investment as all the other cards are standard playable and almost universilly so which makes them poor long term investments.

Brimaz sees some modern and legacy play @GoldGhost012.

Go for the Flamespeaker tho. Or just buy a crapton of shocks.

I wouldn't gamble on any of the 1CC drops from Theros block, just buy shocks if you're looking to invest. If you want to spec on something buy Steam Augury s. That's just me though.

In my LGSs, Flamespeakers are being bought very fastly. In one of the shops it's on a equivalent price of 18 USD! I'll buy one of then, 4 Hallowed Fountain (they are even more cheaper than I thought), 2 Ephara, God of the Polis . On July I will buy the RDW (even because RDW rises a lot when the meta is uncertain).

Thanks you guys for the help!
