I got a fat pack today, and in one of the boosters pulled a Venser, the Sojourner
I'm posting this because i'm not enitrely sure what to do with him.
see right now i have a mono white heal deck, but i can always splash blue if i need to.
I'm currently trying to build one myr deck, and one infect deck. my myr deck is probably going to be blue/white, while the infect deck will be black/green.
so obviously if i choose to use him it's either in my white deck or myr deck, honestly i see it having a lot more use in my white deck.
but the thing is, i only have one of him, im not entirely sure if i should put him in though if i only have one of him i'd rather have two and im not gonna buy him as a single. or is it still worth it to have 1 of him in there since i have 3 goldmane planeswalkers anyways?
also what cards does he usually combo well with considering his +2 ability that exiles cards and then brings it back to the battlefield? especially blue or white cards that have some sort of effect for entering the game.
or should i not even bother all together and just focus on trading him for a few rares that i need to build my myr and infect decks?
or hold on to him and wait?
You should hold onto him, unless you are a 100% sure you don't need him ever. Venser works great in a landfall or an ally deck with his first ability. His second ability is great in any creature deck for a powerful rush. His final ability, his emblem, is like an ultimate control. Play a spell and exile a permanent. Deck wise, what you mentioned a heal, a myr and an infection deck. In a control deck with Journey to Nowhere , Venser would allow you to re-direct the Journey. On a side note any card that says "Whenever XXXX enters the battlefield, YYYY happens," Venser allows for a repeated use of its ability b/c his ability exiles the target.The target leaves the battlefield and at the end step the target re-enters the battlefield. Yep, the almighty admins have redirected it here to the general forum.
I'd agree with nani75185 if you have a deck that you absolutely need or want him for. Otherwise with a card that expensive I would use him for trade material for say another expensive card that you might need/want more.

yeah i guess i might trade him then.
he'd be good for my infect deck, but it's going to be black/green, so i cant put him in there just to use his unblockable ability.
there's my white deck i guess, but honestly i dont see how i can make any more room for him

In a white deck if you are running any Wall of Omens then you can create a nice little card draw engine.
For blue Augury Owl and AEther Adept come to mind as good targets.
Also that ability would be awesome in an allies deck. As they pretty much all have enter the battlefield bonuses.

@ kabrazell what on earth makes you think it will ever drop into the $5.00 range? I highly doubt it will ever drop past $20.00 if it drops at all.

He is great for a deck running Sun Titan also. Exile Sun Titan return him and get a card out of your grave yard. Also he works well with Mnemonic Wall . Anyone thought about Venser + Sun Titan + Silence = your opponent not having any turns to play anything except for mana.I would suggest Time Warp but thats out of rotation now.

There are quite a few nice tricks you could use venser for. Just take a look at the amount of enter the battlefield effects forum white/blue and that could help you a lot. Don't forget venser's ability targets permanents you own. Not control. So it gets you stolen cards back for you as well :)
Honestly keep the card unless you get some awesome trade material for it!

Yes, occasionally I may get things wrong. But in general, I would never ever give someone advice in that a card like Venser, the Sojourner is aweful. It is going for a good solid price and in that respect it means that people who will want it will make good solid trade offers for it.
Or, you could flog it on ebay and get some cash to get some more Scars boosters, or well... money. lol
Whilst WiseHeart65 jokes that you shouldn't listen to me. Don't be taken lightly in all honesty. To quite a few players that card will be worth quite a few rares that you could build up your card collection with, Ain't that right WiseHeart65? :)

i traded it for quite a few mythic rares and rares, cant remember all of them but blight dragon was one of them among other things. i traded with this guy thats really well known for making equvilant trades. he also pulls up this website on his phone that weighs the value of cards being traded between two people.

Of course your right coin...;) there are plenty of tapped veterens that can vouch for me...I have not and would not try to take advantage of any trade. I love trading. I like my binder more than my decks. And I like trading almost as much as playing! I was actualy hoping the OP would take my comment as that I am one of the guys that cards worth alot to. I should have just said that tho I guess lol as I am too late now :(. To the OP I am glad u got a good trade...to coin...thx for our current trade we have now...it was a pleasure workin out the trade! @zigkid3 I am the trade maniac...pleased to meet you....check out my binder, update tommorow night with many new cards...let's trade sone cards .

This type of question would be better suited for the General forum because it doesn't have any one correct answer and so you will never be able to legitimately mark someone's opinion as a correct answer.
Not trying to bully or pick on you, just trying to help you out. :)
However, personally I'd use it for trade material.
