Sleeve Troubles

I have two sets of Dragon Shields, and one set of the Dragon Shields are severely curved. Like that since I got them. Besides that, both sets have started showing little dents on the bottom corners. Twofold question... how do I flatten the curved set, and fix the little corner dents?

You will never be able to fix bends in sleeves. Corner bends in particular just happen with time. As long as they aren't so pronounced or specific as to mark certain cards, then they're considered normal wear.

In what way are the curved sleeves curved?

Clear front and orange back, bend goes up facing the clear side. If you put the stack face-up, the corners don't touch the table.

I'm guessing the sleeves were already bent when he got them. Dragon Shields are really sturdy and feel nice, but they have terrible production quality. Often, their sleeves will be notably longer than other ones while at times they tend to come bent so that the top and the bottom fold closer to each other over the clear side of the sleeve.

So does the curve run from one top corner to the opposite bottom corner, or does it run parallel to one of the sides?

The curves go parallel along the top and bottom of the sleeves

Just put cards in them... the cards will flatten them out.

Store them in a tight-fitting box, if you can.

I tried using them. They don't bend the cards, but cards don't flatten them out. You take the cards out, and they spring right back up. Packing them tight didn't help.

You have to leave them that way. And really, if the sleeves are fine with cards in them, it doesn't matter what they're like otherwise.

When I get a pack of Dshields, what I like to do with them is to sleeve a bunch of commons and place them on a table with 4 books surrounding them at a slightly lower height. I then stack all kinds of heavy books on top of the sleeves for a day. The pressure helps them stay down a bit and they lose some of that springy feel.

Neat. Thanks for the advice. That might even help with the corners a little.

The turquoise dragonshields are a different cut. I HIGHLY recommend them as they are like a blending of KMC and DS into one sleeve. Don't know why they haven't put out more of them.

Turquoise specifically?

Yea, I don't know why it was a different thing. Something that DS was trying out. I REALLY hope they continue them.

I've heard that Dragonshield were sold and the newer products aren't as good as they used to be. I've also heard that KMC sleeves, High Matte with the bumps, are the sturdiest and best sleeves.

I'm using Ultra Pro sleeves currently and am dissatisfied. Many sleeves, when new, have split, bent, or have worn quite quickly.

What are the communities' thoughts on Legion sleeves?

Ultra Pros are worse than Dragon Shields in terms of how they handle wear, but I've never gotten a batch of Ultra Pros like this before. Anyone have suggestions on ho to clean them?

I find the ultra pro matte sleeves to be the best. They last so long because they make shuffling effortless and they honestly feel great playing them.

I usually get the Legion sleeves because the art makes me smile. I did try out some tougher UltraPro sleeves at one point. I got them several months to a year ago and it took until around now for them to soften up enough that they stopped being inclined to the "52 card pickup" slippy/springy messiness. Seeing them soften up has soften me up to them a bit more now - but I still do like the artistic touch of the other sleeves. I haven't had to replace any yet, but I am a little bit careful with them.

Dshields have never failed me(nearly 10 decks sleeved up with em for a couple years.). Super durable, never split one. They attract dirt but wipe off easily. If you resleeve with them alot they can get little creases on the backs but I'm not to worried as they are hard to see unless you examine them closely. I bought kmc hyper matte and they split on the second shuffle. Both packs. Legion are my second faves.
