Rotating Cards

General forum

I'm really bummed that path to exile is rotating out. It's such a versatile card...condemn is not nearly as good. Anyone got some pet cards that they wish weren't rotating?

Unearth in general is going to be tough to let go.

Cruel Ultimatum was always really fun.

The tri-lands were pretty sweet.

Wall of Denial was good.

Ball Lightning and Time Warp are some good M10 goodies.

Ethersworn Canonist would have been soooo much fun with scars. Broken, but fun.

Also, Ad Nauseam , Ad Nauseam , Ad Nauseam .

Well depending on what we see in the cards yet to be revealed, i am going to miss Oblivion Ring . it is one of the few solid planeswalkers removals. Especially since planeswalkers seem to be dominating the format atm, and only look to become more powerful with proliferate.

My guess is that there will be plenty of ways to deal with proliferate style decks, although o-ring really is the best of the best when it comes to removal.

Yeah, oblivion ring is gonna be sorely missed too...I really hope they print something else to remove planeswalkers. At the moment the only card I can think of that can remove planeswalkers solidly is world queller. Pithing needles gonna be gone too. It kinda makes the planeswalkers all that more powerful when they can't be removed by many decks.

September 10, 2010 11:04 a.m.

I'll second Oblivion Ring . Vampire Hexmage is a poor replacement. I'm starting to think the best way to remove a planeswalker is to play the same one.

Bloodbraid Elf is another card to be missed.

Hmmm.. Im gonna have to say Elspeth, Knight-Errant . The new Elspeth is cool and all, but I like her older more beat down style. Im also going to miss all the Devour guys, they were never that great, but I liked their style. =P

"Priceless Treasures" (aka, Vintage legal cards, including those on the restricted list, duals, and even P9) were in inserted into some Zendikar boxes. Will this happen with BfZ? Please?

I expect that it won't, but I can hope for the best.

March 6, 2015 5:20 p.m.

*some on the restricted list

March 6, 2015 5:20 p.m.

is this a troll?

also, slow the fuck down. we have dtk and origins before we even get to battle for zendikar

March 6, 2015 5:37 p.m.

CommanderOfBolas At this point, I think that people are more hyped for Zendikar than for Tarkir or maybe even origins. Zendikar is one of the best sets in the history of MTG, and making a sequel to it provides the usual excitement times ten. It was a serious mistake for Wizards to spoil THREE sets on the same day.

March 6, 2015 5:47 p.m.

so to address the actual question, no. they will never reprint power 9 (especially not in standard). they will never reprint anything like the duals for standard either. it doesn't make sense

March 6, 2015 5:52 p.m.

Ahahahahahahaha...ahhh you're joking right? CommanderOfBolas has the right of it.

March 6, 2015 5:53 p.m.

julianjmoss says... #18

Guys read this again, he isn't asking if these cards will be reprinted. During the zendikar set, literal pieces of the p9 and dual lands were snuck into booster boxes of the set. He is asking if you thing that will happen again

Ender666666 says... #19

OP is correct, in Zendikar, they did insert some amazing vintage cards Candelabra of Tawnos into random packs. They were not reprints, but actual old stock that Wizards had either held on to or obtained, and inserted for the fun of it. Because they were pre-existing cards, there was no restricted list conflict. Zendikar had themes of Adventure and Treasure Hunting and it was an amazing promo (Which if I remember correctly, Wizards never officially confirmed but also didn't deny).

Lol, I remember that, my LGS owner was opening boxes to stock his singles case... And he finds an Underground Sea and a Candlebra. He said another dude got a mox opal. But I never saw any pics, lol.

March 6, 2015 6:05 p.m.

They did it with original Zendikar. OP is asking if they could do it with Battle for Zendikar. First print run Zendikar packs had the chance for reserve list cards, which didn't break the rules because they weren't new printings.

March 6, 2015 6:05 p.m.

@CanadianShinobi & CommanderOfBolas

Lol, guys. No. I'm not asking for a reprint of P9 etc. in RtZ. xD

Maybe I should explain this a little better:
The list that Ender posted are cards that were reported to be found in packs of the original print run of ZEN. They were NOT legal in Standard (obviously), but they were real. This time around (if it happens) would be the same, not-standard-legal thing that happened before.

Look this up on wiki: Priceless Treasures. It's actually a real thing. No kidding.

nighthawk101 says... #24

I doubt it. The theme of the original Zendikar set was exploration and the unknown. Priceless Treasures fit in with that theme. Now, Battle for Zendikar will (most likely) be about fighting the Eldrazi.

Now, if Sweat (after BfZ) has a different theme...

Nah brah.

Side Note: I'm still excited for Dragons. But not for Origins, I hate double faced cards TBH

dragonsjet2 says... #31

slow down, we still have DTK, which is looking awesome, and then MMA2 with confirmed goyf, and then magic origins, which looks good for the last core set.

March 7, 2015 10:17 a.m.

dragonsjet2 says... #32

Im still hoping origins will print filter lands, that would be sweet.

March 7, 2015 10:18 a.m.

dragonsjet2 Wizards made a mistake of spoiling FOUR different sets on the same day. Everyone is exited for Zendikar because it was one of the (if not THE) best block in MTG. MM2 is fun but no new cards. And as nice as DTK is, it has no match for Zendikar or Origins.

March 7, 2015 10:32 a.m.

Legends was by far THE BEST mtg set

I could defiantly see this happening. For one WoTC recently rounded up P9, ABUR duals and a bunch of other fun stuff so a paper Vintage Masters draft could be held for one of their tournaments.(Might have been Worlds but I am not really sure) So they may already have a chunk of these goodies waiting for something like this.
