When splitting a box always take the bottom half or right side. Always.

The last time I split a box with friends like that, we opened the packs and then essentially drafted the cards after Rochester style. He picked one card, I picked 2, he picked 2 until we got everything we wanted. Then we shuffled the commons/leftovers and divided them. It's REAL shitty to get such an uneven cut when you put in equally. Especially among friends/relatives.

Actually he bought the box so I haven't paid him anything yet so He said that I don't need to pay him at all. And we split the packs randomly.
