You have a Creeping Tar Pit in play, and pay the cost to make it a 3/2 unblockable for the turn... is it possible to play Quicksilver Gargantuan targeting the Creeping Tar Pit "creature"? Would it even be possible and if so, worth doing?

Possible? Certaintly, Although I would not suggest doing so. The problem is, Copyable characteristics are the features of the card in question, the printed information on it like P/T, CMC, card type and subtype, etc. TYPECHANGING, TEXTCHANGING, Counters, and status are NOT copied. So when you get yourself a fancy Creeping Tar Pit, it's a land. Then when you activate the Quicksilver Gargantuan , the copied ability it has, from Creeping Tar Pit , will change it from a land that would be a 7/7 if it WAS a creature, into a 3/2 unblockable. So really, it's like being able to rampant growth for a tar pit, except five more mana and prone to removal aside from tec edges.

It's VERY similar to the old "What happens when I Clone A Mutavault issue.
