Question about Enchant Creatures.

General forum

Posted on May 26, 2010, 2:58 a.m. by cardcoin

Does the ability of an enchantment transfer to the creature? I'm just wondering if that is the norm or does the card need to specify that the creature has the ability?

My question relates to training-ground + Crab Umbra

Does the Enchanted effect come off the creature as an added ability which can be manipulated by Training Grounds or not?

If it does, I think Training Grounds just got a whole lot more broken.

No. The activated ability of Crab Umbra belongs to the enchantment, not the creature, so Training Grounds doesn't work.

Now, if Crab Umbra said "Target creature gains '2U- Untap this creature'", then Training Grounds would work because the activated ability would then belong to the creature.

Ta, that clears that up. Make's Crab Umbra not as potentially breakable as first thought. :(

Oh well, back to the drawing board on that one. :)

If you want a similar card to break, just use Freed from the Real =)

Freed from the Real + Arbor Elf + Fertile Ground = Infinite Green Mana + 1 of any other colour... Possible 3rd turn Banefire anyone? :)

Of course, I was looking into doing something similar for Standard but there is no blue cheap untappy creature thing that will do this for me, and besides, that made the combo even more junky...

Filigree Sages + Training Grounds + Khalni Gem = infinate mana of ANY color.

Aye, I know that combo well. But the other one could kick in a bit faster. Still... It's interesting times ahead. Got a PTQ in Dublin to attend this Sat coming... Might just run with some kind of crazy Goblin deck for the hell of it :)

Is there anyway that a BUG Infect Control could be effective or competitive? The idea would be a low creature count ideally letting the Inkmoth Nexus being the main win condition. I'd love to hear thoughts. I've been working on a list and would love to hear what you think.

Generally infect tries to win the game asap, where as control deck will usually stall the game and steadily build up resources until a wincon is possible. I know this isnt the deck help forum but i wouldnt mind checking out the deck list.

One of the guys at my LGS had a mono-black control deck with Inkmoth Nexus and Phyrexian Crusader . He ran a lot of hand disruption, spot removal, and Damnation for a board wipe. Was a pretty cool deck.

Yeah I've played the Mono-Black list some. I was hoping to play BUG Control though.

Blighted Agent could serve as your finisher as well, alongside Inkmoth Nexus .

But really, I think it'd work out better to Mutagenic Growth the living hell out of a creature, rather than countering their spell, and then hitting them next turn for poisonlethal.

UG Infect or MonoB Infect just seems plain stronger.

I think it could work just fine. When Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas was in standard, a buddy of mine had a U/B tezz infect control. Star players were Inkmoth Nexus , Blighted Agent , Ichorclaw Myr , and Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas . Between Mana Leak and Corrupted Resolve it was hard to get past counter spells. Most other cards were things such as Contagion Clasp and the like. It was effective and hard to stop if it really got going

Problems with using inkmoth as a wincon: tec. Edge, ghost quarter, sowing salt, molten rain, stone rain...

Tectonic Edge and Ghost Quarter for sure. Possibly Sowing Salt but is anyone playing Molten Rain or Stone Rain ?

I've built a rakdos control infect deck (Rakdos Infection) and I'm pretty happy with the results. The idea is to control the game in the early turns with discard and removal, and then attack with Phyrexian Crusader (awesome creature), Phyrexian Vatmother and Inkmoth Nexus .

Yes... those 2 cards are played, I use molten rain in the sideboard with my boros aggro deck, I also forgot to mention spreading seas.. which is awesome with merfolk.. I'm not saying infect insn't viable, relying on inkmoths to get the job done outside of quick pump probably isn't a good idea. I'd be interested to see what you come up with.. good luck

Back when it was still standard I wanted to make a viable non-green infect deck, and I started building a U/B Infect deck that has slowly morphed into a midrange/control deck of sorts..

Back_Alley Rapist..

None of my friends can't touch it really in it's current state (they tend to play primarily aggro..), but when I take it to a local weekly Modern event I tend to have a (roughly) 60/40 win ratio.. It has problems with super-heavy control match-ups, but I figure a few changes could help with that..

BUG control in legacy would be cool.
