Price Question/Advice on Vintage cards

General forum

I have roughly 600 cards from Revised, 4th and 5th Editions, Ice Age, Homelands, and Alliances. Most of the set is evenly mixed 33% Common, Uncommon, Rare. The majority of the cards are in good condition with some exceptions, mostly in the revised and fourth edition cards which were often played sleeveless.

I don't know if I should try to trade/sell the cards separately or in bulk. There are some good high want cards in the set like Pox, Jester's Cap, dual lands, Doppleganger, old Shivans, Autumn Willow, Blood Moon, etc. Without a complete list of cards, can anyone give a rough estimate on price and whether I should try to trade seperatly or en mass?

I only play Standard Type 2, so am looking for those cards only. I have a full playset of M11 and Unc/Com for Eldrazi and Zendikar, so my target trades would be rare Zendikar BLOCK and October's release. I would trade for decent priced M11s for retrades.

basically i would take out the cards you know are worth money say $10 + cards

Then sell the rest as bulk.

Or that'd be my best suggestion.

I've seen some success bulking things on ebay by listing the money cards in the description.

With the cards listed above, none of them are huge money rares except for the dual lands potentially... Sell those in bulk or find a legacy player that will trade for them. Legacy players are willing to let a lot of standard stuff go for legacy cards than anyone else usually.

The other cards, I would say just sell them to a shop for store credit and then buy up type 2 or see if anyone will trade at a local shop for type 2. If you sold the cards listed above minus the dual lands (don't know which ones you have) you'll only make $25-30.

KEEP THE DUAL LANDS

Seriously, those things are only going to rise in value... Unless you want to give them to me? :)

Everything else, if it seems valueable, trade it. Pox is tournament playable, as with blood moon, so you should be able to get some good stuff for that. I know for a fact that some people are willing to drop down some money for an old doppleganger, but youre still better off just trading it for new stuff.

Trade separately, to be honest. The duals will always be valuable, especially in good condition. People will also collect cards like Shivan Dragon etc. because they were tournament staples back in the day.

I would keep most cards in case you decide to play legacy/vibntage one day (because with all those duals, you pretty much can). Also they're valuable for non-sanctioned formats like Elder Dragon Highlander and 60-card Highlander formats.

Think of them as an investment, like a house or shares, and treat them as such.

Hello everybody! (Apologies if this should be in deck help, but since its general EDH I'm posting this here) I recently bought my second EDH deck Mind Seize (my first being Nature of the beast) and got to play it that day and I loved it! My question is what are some changes that you made to the pre-built decks? What specifically did you change in Mind Seize?

I know a lot of people use Nekusar, the Mindrazer as the general and then just add in a large amount of Wheel of Fortune effects, and stuff like Teferi's Puzzle Box .

Gidgetimer I completely forgot about those style cards, thank you very much!

There's a couple of different ways you can push it depending on what your favorite part of it is. The precons are meant as "seeds" for different concepts. Any idea what kinds of things in it you like using?

Yup. That's basically what I did for Gifting Pain. Feel free to use it as a resource. It does ok. Alternatively, you can play Stax or zombie tribal with Thraximundar . The reason many people dislike Jeleve is that in order for her to do anything, you need to fill your deck with instances worth casting. This usually ends up being stuff that gives you extra turns and costs a fortune to cast. The downside is that when you draw into these cards, your hand suddenly fills up with 8-mana instances and sorceries and you can't cast them. Her success is also largely dependent on the decks your opponents play.

The only Commander pre-cons I've customized so far are my decks for The Mimeoplasm and Kaalia of the Vast. Each of those basically kept the same core theme. Mind Seize is the next one I want to work on, but I plan on completely rebuilding it to have way more creatures and to feature Lord of Tresserhorn as the commander.

You could use Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge as your commander and fill it up with instants, sorceries and like like.

Alternatively make a Spiteful Visions /Howling Mine type deck piloted by Nekusar, the Mindrazer

Finally you could make aggro/zombie tribal based around Thraximundar , it is up to you.

I think I'm going to stay with Nekusar, the Mindrazer as the commander and go with draw and discard and re-draw affects. I think doing zombie tribal sounds very fun though, so that might happen in the near future.

First and most important change needs to be the mana base. Then take out any card that you think would be a dead draw in common situations you find yourself in and replace it with something better. If you keep doing this, your deck will progressively get better. Check out my mana base here: 'Twas the night before Grixis I'm playing heavy black so you'll notice there are no R/U lands.
