Naming your decks

Do you have any suggestions or tips on how you name your decks? I usually just name by the color and/or the stratagy, say G/B Counters. The only exeption is my 7/11 (great deck by the way), which originally came from one creature in it.

So, can you guys help?

Thanks and Happy Hunting.

I take a card, combo, or theme and then build around it. The name usually comes with that territory. Doing the simple naming of G/B Counters does help people understand what the deck is before clicking it. Although, I recommend finding something you are somewhat passionate about, or notice many people recognize, and create a theme. Then build the deck to that theme, however, not to a detriment. Once you have that, then you can easily name the deck after that theme and then have parenthesis at the end with the "G/B Counters" inside.

Shameless plug as an example:

Teen Titans (Group Hug Meren)

For decks that I actually care about, I pick a descriptive phrase that is either unique or recognizable.

also includes a little note to try to pull in interest.

Not gonna go in and name all of my decks to show you, but yeah, I like picking either popular phrases and changing them up to be applicable to the deck's theme or strategy, or coming up with a unique one that catches people's eye.

Epochalyptik has an article on his profile that has suggestions for getting the most out of your deckcycles. Essentially his statement is that "G/B Counters" doesn't stand out a lot and that while descriptive is great some kind of humour or at word play...something unique about it that makes it more interesting while still being illustrative (somewhat) of the goal will give you the most bang for your proverbial buck.

My attempt Centre for Disease Control; my Sidisi Zombie deck is a play on the CDC...

Most of my deck names come from my love of hip-hop. Also a few are named after movies and such. Maybe you could use your favorite genre of music or film or even books. People seem to like my names, even the ones who don't listen to much rap.

Also people on here really like puns, specifically realllllly bad puns.

Make it cryptic, catchy or unmistakable. Something enigmatic or hazy/foggy works wonders.

For example:

Sodium Hypochlorite (White as Fuck!)

The Only Hard and Fast Rule for naming a deck in my mind is that its something that youll always be happy with/proud of/satisfied with every time you look at it. Basically youre about to "marry" this thing (no pressure), so it better be good, at least to your own standards whatever those may be???

Humor is next of course... are you funny enough??? Show us the Funny!!

You are definitely trying to get others to look at your stuff, but humor is usually in better taste than pure shock value (there's a deck called white power that I have decided I dont need to look at whatsoever)....

If it helps you can always riff off of and/or parody something everyone will recognize, eg books movies pop-culture in general Im just breaking this whole thing down to essentials here : )
