"Misplaced" decks...

I have officially "misplaced" my backpack containing my three EDH decks and all my playing gear - playmat, dice, life counter. Total value was somewhere around $1k according to Tappedout's TCG prices, which is a ****ton of money for me. It also had a couple of books and some other personal things that meant a lot to me in it.

I noticed it was not in its usual spot a few days ago and have spent all my free time back-tracking through where I had it last and where I've been, hoping that I would come across it in my normal routines ... no such luck. It basically lived in the trunk of my car and I only regularly used it at one friend's house, and it's not at her place and we both remember me leaving with it last time I was there. My car hasn't been broken into or left unattended and unlocked or anything because my music gear has lived in there too the last few weeks since I started playing again. I have no idea how this happened.

I lost one of the best ways I have of expressing myself, a huge monetary blow when I'm already stretched tight, and I don't know what to do. I just thought you all would understand a bit better than Facebook.

Damn man, that really sucks. I'm constantly watchful of my own pack that has my play sets in it (I'm not implying you aren't) for fear of the same thing happening to me. It doesn't leave my sight when I have it out of the house.

I guess just keep asking around? Every day that passes it is less likely to be returned.

Good luck, I hope you find it or another honest citizen returns it.

A friend of mine had his EDH collection stolen...in a foreign country...at gunpoint. I'm not sure how much his cards were worth at the time, but I'd estimate them to be roughly the same as yours. He was in high school at the time. I feel you. He played jank budget for a while until he quit for good.

People do target other peoples' cards. You are not alone!

I had my first beginner cards back in 1997 stolen by someone who passed over loads of electronic just to take my hand decorated card box. It was during the second movie of a double feature show in a friend's car.

My brother has lost cards countless times.

Now I am paranoid enough to never have more than the cards I plan to use on me.

People even go to great lengths to force other players out of the game and rip them off on their collection on their way out of the game.

I wish we lived in a world of decency and trust but a few people is all it takes to ruin it for the rest of us.

This is precisely why all of my cards are locked up in the spare part of my closet. When I play down at the LGS, I bring one deck and my trade binder, when I play other places I bring only what I can fully keep in my field of vision. I've just heard too many stories like this and had too many close calls myself to risk losing hundreds, potentially thousands of dollars in cards.
