List of best deck types

General forum

Greetings MTG players from around the world.

I am asking you to compile a list of the best deck types for any and all formats by deck type I am referring to (Infect, Reanimator, Red deck wins, etc). Thank you and may the best deck win!

So what qualifies as a "best deck type"? Is this just any deck that has some kind of representation at the competitive level? What are our criteria?

Also, why make this such a broad exercise?

Also what do we win? Also why is this even a thing to begin with? Do you need help picking a deck archetype to play in a specific format? If so, why didn't you just say this to begin with?

Not trying to be discouraging, but we need to start with something a little more specific. Otherwise this just devolves into "name every good deck ever" and becomes extremely unproductive.

Maybe any deck that has won a official mtg tournament.

Sooooooooo... should we just do this by format?

Standard: Abzan, RDW, Selesnya aggro, Mono-green ramp, Bant, Dark Jeskai, Jeskai, Esper Control

Modern: Jund, Junk, RDW, Affinity, Zoo, Tron, Merfolk, Delver, Twin, Bloom Titan, Infect, Scapeshift

Legacy: Delver, Threshold, Infect, D&T, Burn, Miracles, BUG, Stoneblade, Storm, Elves, Show and Tell, Reanimator

Vintage: MUD, Delver, Fish, Monastery, Oath of Druids, Planeswalker Control, Dredge, Storm

Is this what you wanted...? (Also, for EDH, I have no idea what's good. I suppose Epoch might know a bit about that.)

For Modern, you can check out ChiefBell's primer for an extensive list of tier 1-2 decks and primers for most of them.

Do To confusion lets narrow the choices down to the modern format with a high win percentage.

November 16, 2015 10:12 p.m.

But what is a high win percentage?

What, if I may ask, is the purpose of this thread. If you just want to know what's winning in a format, that's easy enough. As others have said, MTGTop8 gives great snapshots of the current meta in any given format. If you're looking for new deck ideas, be clear about that.

The purpose of this thread is simply to have a list of competitive deck types available to everyone because I don't believe that such a list exists. And by high win percentage I mean that a well made one could top 8 in a grand prix.

Such lists do exist, as there's one of them in each of the sites I linked.

As its name implies, MTGTop8.com is a website devoted entirely to cataloging the winning decks in each format.

I'm not trying to insult you, but I suggest actually taking a look at the resources that have been linked multiple times above. They do this job more thoroughly and more effectively than we could propose to.
