Whys it called junk?

Jund was BRG, Junk is BWG.

Alternatively, Junk decks are generally just goodstuff, that is piles of "junk".

Magic decks used to be named more randomly and less based on actual cards or synergies. At least I think.

So WAAAYYYYY back in the day, I think it was A.Sullivan that made it, there was a tournament deck that unconventionally played good stuff, the first "good stuff" deck. He called it "Just a pile of junk". The name stuck, and it became "Piles of Junk decks, to Junk decks. Way before the term Jund ever came to be.

Scratch that, the first junk deck was straight . Black was added later.
