Excluding planswalkers!!! What is your favorite and least favorite MYTHIC cards and why?

My favorite is Skaab Ruinator... Fun to build around and rewarding to play yet far away from being broken.

My least favorite is Gonti's Aether Heart... One I am biased/wasn't thrilled with the energy mechanic... Two I just think that there are better ways to get extra turns... However at least it's note worthy that it's an artifact so any deck CAN play it.

My favorite is Crested Sunmare because it is fun to build around and its a friggen horse. My deck for it did pretty well against Aggro which plagued my LGS so i loved it.

Least favorite? That is a bit harder to say. Id probably have to go for Cataclysmic Gearhulk because no card has ever disappointed me so much. I saw it at first and thought it looked like so much fun to put into a deck, like, a creature boardwipes? Im down!! Then I played it and it was absolutely worthless. Like, it never came in handy at any point. God that card sucked. Pretty much any other gearhulk is better than it, or even a puzzle knot

Neat choice with Crested Sunmare! Despite the very narrow tribe/selection of horses it doesn't matter because lifegain is a very real thing and becomes a very cool win condition.... Reminds me of Luminarch Ascension... Only with lifegain instead of turbofog.

I feel your pain with Cataclysmic Gearhulk... Knowing/realizing that the card in the cycle of color you prefer is just not that great and also just having high expectations only to just under perform.

Favorite is probably Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon. He's oozing awesome design, he's a finisher and is build aroundable. Best part is he's awesome enough that he doesn't even need a dedicated infect deck to be run... he'll finish games on his own!

Least favorite is that new blue one Overflowing Insight. I get that some cards are mythic for limited purposes but come on... its just not nearly as good as a lot of other expensive card draw.

I totally agree on Overflowing Insight. It should have been instant speed or at least uncounterable. Like, drawing 7 cards is insanely good, but skipping your turn to do it is mediocre at best, game losing at worst. Only in commander can you comfortably cast that card

Nice call on Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon the trio of haste, regeneration and infect on a flying 4/4 body is an outstanding and very playable finisher.

Overflowing Insight.... Yeah... That must just be an EDH spell like Clone Legion... Needs to be an instant!

Lest favorite: any red mythic besides inferno titan

Akoum Firebird is pretty lacklustre.

Angel of Invention is kind of meh. Like, I appreciate the power but still. Boring.

Reap Intellect is super disappointing. I wanted it to be useful, but unless you can generate six or seven very color specific mana in the first three turns its pretty much useless.

Archangel's Light is the nut on top of the crap heap I think. 2 life/card in the yard, and then it gets rid of your yard...for 8...

As far as good ones go, theres so many.

Rafiq of the Many is near perfectly executed for his shard. Art was great, power level was high but not broken.

Massacre Wurm? Say no more...

Epic Experiment, the Titans, Sphinx's Revelation...all awesome.

But my favourite has to be Grimoire of the Dead. Necromonicon? Come on now...

@shadow63 lol I dig your enthusiasm and loyalty to Inferno Titan. Looks like a feel-good bomb.

@MindAblaze: Reap Intellect is totally one of those deck building traps! You see it and get PUMPED only to realize the mana cost makes it unplayable.... Grimoire of the Dead is a card I've always wanted to try out!

Yup. Some sort of janky Owling Mine build probably would be the only home. If you could manage to somehow not die.

Icbrgr well there's just so many sub par red mythics but I love all the titans from that cycle besides frosty. I mean a few of the chabdras are good and other then that and titan I think the only other good one is Bonfire of the Damned

shadow63....Neheb, the Eternal

I love Neheb, Narset, Enlightened Master(my commanders), and Descend upon the Sinful for the art!

Gotta echo the hate for Overflowing Insight. It deserves it.

Eternity Vessel also sucks.

Yeah eternity vessel is a bad one... Totally saw Narset coming from the EDH players.

shadow63 I don't know what format(s) you play, but in commander he's awesome! Also, Chandra, Torch of Defiance?

Least favorite were Entreat the Angels, Bonfire of the Damned, and Sphinx's Revelation when they were in Standard. They were just dumb "lol oops I win gg" cards that put people too far ahead.

Baneslayer Angel was dumb just because it forever changed Mythics from "These are cards you don't want to see too many of in Limited or require you to build around them" to "You need these $30+ cards to be decently competitive in MtG." Then came Primeval Titan and its cycle.

In terms of how playable they are, Beguiler of Wills, Devout Invocation, Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded, Duskmantle Seer, and Archangel's Light usually send me into a fit of rage whenever I saw them opened.

Flavor wise, Descent into Madness and Startled Awake  Flip are my two favorite.

Play-wise? Wurmcoil Engine, Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, Liliana of the Veil, Past in Flames, Angel of Serenity, Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver, Garruk Relentless  Flip, Kozilek, Butcher of Truth, and Karn Liberated.
