fake MTG cards for cube goodness

Since i and allot of friends can't afford to draft very often i've been mulling over printing off a cube so we can draft whenever we want. But it feels pretty janky playing like that especially on such a large scale. So i was wondering if there's a good site where you can order fake cards? Hopefully decent enough quality and cheap of course :)

The goal being to get the cube done out like this then replace each one with the real deal over time. Eventually we'd have one real cube and one fake as a back up or for a 16 player draft!

So any suggestions?

Sleeve up basic lands or junk commons. Google mtg proxies and print off what you want from any of the sites that appear. Insert the proxies on top of the sleeved lands / commons. Done. Cube feels legit even when it's not!

Wizards has been cracking down on distributors of fake MTG cards. I would not suggest going that route.

I'm very sure that printing for personal use does not count as distributing fake cards. Especially if it's obvious that they are proxies.

OP was talking about buying high quality fakes as an alternative to proxying. I agree with ChiefBell that just proxing over basic lands is the best option.

I would definitely go the print option too. Don't bother with tracking down high quality fakes when you can print decent enough versions just for the cost of ink and paper.

From my experience, using the basic lands or junk cards with a printed card over top is the easiest and probably the cheapest route. You also don't worry about them being damaged. I've played with a cube in which every card was like this (Booze cube if you've heard of it) and the cards stand up rather well.

Since I have three years worth of experience in proxying cards, here are my tips for you:

  1. Go color. Trust me color = fun.

  2. Don't use tappedouts images as they are slightly too small. I don't know which site was the right size, but my guess is that it'd be either magiccards.info or gatherer.wizards.com.

  3. Fit nine on a page by using portrait landscape and narrow margins.

  4. If you want an easier time cutting them out, put five spaces between each picture and an enter key between each line of pictures. (Put nothing if you want to cut them out exactly.)

  5. If you want to cut out multiple pages of proxies at a time, staple the edges of the pages together, and don't use scissors (unless you have spaces between the pictures).

There's a reason my friends call me Professor Proxy.

I suggest making your own proxies or going after some Collector's Edition cards. I suggest against buying fake cards because WOTC strongly dislikes counterfeiters, and because you can get in some shit if they ever end up getting traded or sold away.
