Ive been looking at this new deck and the Everlasting Torment card caught my eye. I'm looking for some ways I can make this really useful bc right now it seems more of a situational card rather than one that will be very helpful bc it also hurts the controller and their creature. Thanks

This is not really a rules question, but let me give it a shot. This card says 3 things:

  • No lifegain
  • No prevention
  • All wither, all the time.

For the first one, the easiest way to abuse it is by playing cards that gain the opponent life as a drawback. Think Alms Beast never having a drawback.

For the second one, it is a bit useless, since it depends on the opponents deck. If they run any prevention effects, they are useless, if they don't - that part of the text is useless.

For the third one, it is a very useful ability to have when you have lots of non-combat damage. Additionally, free creatures from things like Goblin Assault and tokens get a lot better for you.

Alongside Melira, Sylvok Outcast it would prevent your creatures being damaged. It's a bit of a janky combo but if you're trying to build around Everlasting Torment it's probably worth it.

If your playing The Scorpion God, its an auto include.

It also lets you get rid of indestructable creatures with combat damage.
