why is boros the only ravnica guild name used to describe a 2 color deck? theres alot of rakdos and azorius control or gruul aggro, but only boros is ever really heard of. why is that?

probably because the modern Boros deck, generally has the same gameplay and win conditions as the old Boros.

The other color combos are not really the same in tempo or play style for subsequesnt blocks.

So it is describing the style more than the colors. Similar to a Sligh deck. Sligh decks do not have to be mono red or have the same playlist that Paul Sligh used. They simply have to have the same style of play, tempo, and way of winning.

Probably because Boros is a cool name where as azorius is boring and difficult to say, gruul also doesn't really roll off the tongue like Boros does.

Rakdos is a halfway decent word, but i think it would just confuse people, and really there are no black / red decks in current standard that are beating face. So a term w/ out anything to reference.

Because Izzet, Boros and to some extent, Golgari, were friken awesome in their time and are still viable in standard meta. New Boros has fast, powerful 1 and 2 drops like Steppe Lynx , new Izzet has Pyromancer Ascension , and new Golgari dredge has Vengevine s, which just eat face.

i always use the guilds to describe decks i play or see. even if the people i'm talking to have no idea what i'm talking about.

like I'll say Simic Allies for my friends U/G Mill Ally deck or Rakdos Vamps for my B/R Vampire deck.

the only one i ever have trouble with, is the Black/White one.
