Cards that Go from Weak to Powerful in the Proper Combinations

I have noticed that this game contains some cards that are rather weak on their own, but become very powerful in the proper combinations with other cards.

For example, the fetchlands may seem to be good at a first glance, but they do not offer true card advantage, because they merely replace one card with another; however when combined with a card that allows a player to play lands from their graveyard, such as Crucible of Worlds , they become amazing, as they can be used repeatedly.

Also, cards such as Astral Cornucopia , Everflowing Chalice , Lux Cannon , and the storage lands are usually too slow and inefficient to be useful in most decks, but, in a deck with the proliferate mechanic, they can become devastating.

What does everyone else say about this? What are some cards that go from weak to powerful in the proper combinations?

Fetchlands are almost always good on their own. They let you make a choice about the kind of mana you require and then allow you to access that rather than being stuck on whatever you topdeck. Why do you think even Prismatic Vista , which only fetches basic lands is worth what it is.

And in combination with lands which produce multiple colours (i.e. the shocks/ABURs), these go from good to amazing. But the benchmark is already high.

Kird Ape ... kinda lame at a glance.. until you realize that T1 Stomping Ground results in a 2/3 for 1cmc.

Dramatic Reversal becomes the most powerful spell when combined with Isochron Scepter . in nearly all other situations it's the worst spell.

also TypicalTimmy since invocation triggers when you cast the spell it always will resolve before the spell resolves (it's not like having several etb triggers happening at once, there is actually an order to how a trigger happening to a spell being cast goes).

Korvold, Fae-Cursed King and Witch's Oven are a really good combo. If you can get lots of creature tokens out, especially with Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin , you got yourself a really powerful Korvold.
