So I was thinking of trying to build an EDH deck based around Battle of Wits as the win condition. So i hunted and I hunted for a blue commander or multi blue card that allowed me to search my library. I came up empty Suggestions?

its impossible to build a battle of wits edh deck, an edh deck has to have exactly 100 cards, no more no less

well you could throw it into any blue deck but it would be a completely dead draw

As mentioned Battle of Wits is useless in EDH as, at the most, with Battle of Wits on the table, you would only have 98 cards in your library and you need at least 200 to win with Battle of Wits . And 98 is best case scenario, you would have to get rid of all other permanents, including land, and get them all back into your library.

Think outside the box dudes. Ill leave this here, Spawnsire of Ulamog .

Your best option IMO would not be mono blue but other colours with more tutors. Zur the Enchanter could work well.

Sorry, not zur lol. There are other decent options however. Obviously black has tutor but also white Enlightened Tutor . You could get creative with Arcum Dagsson /Planar Portal or Momir Vig, Simic Visionary ??

In official EDH rules, you can only have 10 sideboard cards. The first comment answered this question. You can't build a Battle of Wits EDH deck.

And even if you could have an unlimited number of cards in you sideboard, you'd have to play a wish more times than is practical, including the 18 eldrazi cards you could sideboard in with Spawnsire.

So no, you cannot build a Battle of Wits EDH deck.

F that, do it anyway. It would be so stupid, your playgroup should allow it just for laughs.

eh My group allows me to use wish cards and research/development to get back cards they removed from game :D SO GO FOR IT! Edh rules are just home brew anyways

@ jakerr101, the "official rules" have it as an optional rule. Most competitive EDH/commander tournaments will play the sideboard rule I assume such an awesome rouge deck will be for casual play.

"...These cards let you get cards from "outside the game," which has been ruled to include your card collection (in casual games), your sideboard (in tournament games)..."

http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/feature/42a

So if anything, a casual playgroup would be obliged to let DrkNinja use cards he owns even out of the sideboard.

IDK where you are getting "18 eldrazi" from, if you own 200 copies of Emrakul, the Aeons Torn outside the game, then with Spawnsire of Ulamog 's ability you can play 200 copies of emrakul.

this deck can be built. Spawnsire of Ulkamog's rules text only specifies that you must own the eldrazi cards and they must NOT be in the game. They do NOT have to be in your sideboard.
