So, I was thinking of a deck idea - still in its infancy - But wouldn't Aegis of the Gods, Avacyn, Angel of Hope, and Archetype of Endurance make you and your creatures permanantly untouchable?

(I'm sorry if I put this in the wrong area, but I'm still becoming acquainted with the ins and outs of the forums)

Deck Help is for requesting help with specific decklists. I'll leave this in DH for now in case you develop the idea further in this thread.

Not quite. Making everything untouchable is a complicated process because you have to account for mass exile, shuffle effects, etc. I don't know that there's a way to make a board truly unanswerable.

But these three cards would make it so that no damage-dealing or targeted spells or abilities could interfere with you or your creatures. Mass -X/-X (Black Sun's Zenith, for example) or exile (Final Judgment, for example) would still hit your creatures. And Glaring Spotlight exists.

Humility effects would also screw you.

Even though they all had hexproof? The abilities would still go through?

Hexproof prevents targeting effects. Global effects are unaffected by Hexproof.

Overloaded Cyclonic Rift and it all goes to hell. :)

Hexproof only means "this can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control." Remember that a spell or ability only targets if it uses the word "target" in its text. Targetless effects go right through hexproof.

So hexproof example: If I have my little happy Invisible Stalker, and you play something that gives ALL creatures -1/-1, it would kill it! (assuming it wasn't a 1/2 or larger) The reason being that hexproof specifically states that it can't be targeted by spells or abilities your opponents control. Anything that doesn't include the word 'target' still will affect it. So Murder includes the word target, so I couldn't Murder it. Whereas Wrath of God doesn't say target, so it would kill it. When you get to enchantments, it can get confusing because you'll say 'oh but it doesn't have target! So I can play Pacifism on it. If you look at the tenth edition version (click here) you'll see that it has the text 'target a creature as you play this'. This applies to ALL enchantments, new or old, so enchantments do target, so I can't pacifism your invisible stalker...

Among other things a truly untouchable board requires Mirror Gallery and 5 copies of Iona, Shield of Emeria. (Kicked Rite of Replication ought to do it.)

Still doesn't prevent All Is Dust however so you have to add more to it. (Sigarda, Host of Herons for example.)

rorofat is mostly correct.

The only thing you are missing is the odd little quirk about Auras. They only target when they are being cast from hand. If something like Sun Titan reanimates Pacifism it simply attaches.

How fun! It may not be possible to create an absolute "untouchable" board, but gosh darn it we can get really close. It'll be the slowest, impractical thing, but it'll be annoyingly fun. We can do it! Epochalyptik, my apologies. When I have more question about "combos" and such, on which forum should they attend?

If it's not related to a specific deck, General is fine. However, if you're asking a rules question, it belongs in the Q&A (linked in the header bar).

I'm going to move this to General now because it's more of a discussion about the idea than any one deck.

I like Ohthenoises solution of Mirror Gallery, Iona and a kicked Rite of Replication....just once I'd like to see that happen.

I think Iona in combination with Sigarda and Avacyn and granting everything hexproof usually takes care of it. Iona lets you make the meta decision to shut down the direction you feel the mass exile/bounce is coming from.
