question for people who've bought from TCG

I recently started buying singles on TCG. I started with a foil flooded strand on Monday and have bought a different card every day this week. The Foil Strand was sold by a shop about 1 hour from my house so I expected it to arrive quickly but when I checked the tracking it says it's coming from New York, the seller is based in Minnesota though. Does TCG keep an inventory and ship the cards themselves?

Yes, if you spend $35 or more from certain sellers, you automatically sign up for a program called "TCG Direct", which basically means that TCGPlayer will ship your whole order out at once from their building in NY. It's really only useful when you order like a whole deck, and I really wish that there was an option to not auto-sign up for Direct because i've also been in your situation, but hey, it's their thing.

Pretty sure you can opt out if you use the Optimizer and don't select "TCG Player Direct Sellers".

Lame. I specifically bought from them and paid a little more thinking I'd have the card by Friday, Stuff takes about a week to get here from NY. Oh well. Thanks guys

In this instance, however, OP here wanted to buy from a shop that was relatively close to him, assuming for timing reasons, without realising that he would be getting Direct, which I believe is the problem. If you want to buy from a certain store, and that store is a direct store, there is no other option than to get Direct.

That's probably true. I've never run into that specific issue with them.

I sent them an email explaining the situation and suggested that if there is no way to bypass their direct feature that they should at least offer expedited shipping rather than just the standard free shipping.

I really don't see any benefit to using tcg anymore unless I'm buying a bunch of singles from different sources that I need at the same time. I think it's back to the old ebay for me.

Just my 2 cents - I live in Texas and every time I've ordered from TCGDirect, my package has been here within a day or two. Hopefully you will get your package before tomorrow.
