I have a little problem, I play several formats, modern/legacy/pauper/EDH and thus have a large amount of decks I like to keep with me. Currently 13, 80 card boxes and 5 edh, i've exhausted myself searching for a case to hold these and a playmat and trade binder, any suggestions? Roughly 1400 cards... some double sleeved...

Personally, I use makeup cases (the soft kind, without internal plastic shelves). They tend to be an appropriate size for fitting a couple decks, and their soft walls keep the cards protected, without being heavy. They often come in several different colours and paterns, which is helpful for organizational purposes, and tend to have little pockets inside where you can store dice and other Magic accouterments.

Given the volume of your cards, it would probably be worth getting several makeup cases, and then some sort of larger bag as Catalog9000 suggested. While having bags within bags seems a bit silly, this will better protect your cards as well as help you keep organized.

Get a medium sized plastic tool box. Carry your playmat. Or you could probably fit most of your tote into a back pack. I know that playmats rolled up and in a tube can fit in most book bags as well.

I use 2 pirate labs large cases to transport 24 of my edh decks, 2 playats, and both 4 column binders. They hold 12 edh decks in each one with extra room. They are not a cheap option. But each case does hold a playmat and trade binder. Has space for rolled mat and normal binder, my mats are folded due to bigger binders.

If you go at one particular LGS and are a regular there, why not ask the owner to leave a few of the decks there? I have 8 pauper decks that I have no desire to ever lug around, but my store owner is cool and I just have a small box with them in their storage.

What I do is have two different bags.

One for Standard, one for Commander.

They both contain all the equipment I need to play - spin downs, d6 dice, playmat, pen, paper etc.

I just grab the bag I need, and I'm good to go.

Of course, this works best if you are only playing one format at a time.
