How do you carry your shtuff to fnm?

Hello all. Just a quick question. How does everyone carry there shtuff to fnm? I'm kinda tired of a backpack with a 900 count box for my edh decks and modern deck. Looking for something a little more, iunno, more put together. What have you guys and gals used before and what have you found works best?

I usually do take my backpack, with the deck (in box) that I'll be playing, playmat, and my trade binder. It seems to be efficient enough.

I never really bought into the whole "special gamer gear" trend (I say, as I type on a Ducky Shine III and scroll around with a RAT 7).

For Magic, I've always used an old grade school backpack. My binders, which I last used in high school, were recoated with a layer each of duct tape and clear packing tape, and they've never failed me yet. I think the only custom-built piece of Magic gear I own is a custom cedar deckbox for my most prized deck. I own a few deckboxes because I used to play Standard, but most of my stuff is in either generic 1000+ card boxes or fat pack/deckbuilder's toolkit boxes.

That said, if you really want to go another direction, they make products like Dragon's Egg. If you want to carry your decks individually, I recommend UltraPro boxes. They have their generic 60-card boxes, but they also have larger boxes that are suitable for EDH decks or 75-card tournament decks. As long as you treat them properly, they won't fall apart. They also have magnetic flip-top boxes, which are really nice, but if you drop them, the lid will open and your cards will be on the floor. The 2-piece gaming boxes hold up well, and I've heard good things about their Satin Towers.

You can find this stuff here.

Can confirm that Satin Towers are very robust.

Use an old bakpack, with 2 fatpacks, carrying all my decks. My main deck though, get's the fancy treatment with it's own deck box. Then there is my one binder, with all my rares i can currently locate stuffed into it for trading. And my Dice are chilling in my can holder located on the side.

In a backpack:

Two trade binders. One of Standard-legal stuff and foils, the other with non-Standard stuff for Modern/Legacy/EDH traders.

Deck boxes. Two EDH decks, my Standard deck, and my "draft box." The draft box has 42 sleeves and basic lands.

Fat pack with my 3 (for now) French Vanilla EDH decks for when I want to give people headaches for playing bad cards.

One of two ways...giant duffel bag if someone requests to see all my cards that I feel like carrying...this way sucks...but I get good trades, the other is a canvas messenger bag with follow mw in case of zombie attack in glow in the dark letters, (completely necessary) with my rares binder and a couple of deck boxes thrown in fatpack boxes to keep them from jostling around. Works for me. :p My vampire casual deck is in my favorite deckbox, 15th anniversary mtg black lotus set. :p

I use a bag of holding to carry my supplies and a variety of deckboxes, from the ultra-pro command tower and satin towers to the flip top boxes (one of each color). Trade binder is the ultrapro 360 (18 cards x20 page) binder, with elspeth slaying the hydra on it.

weisemanjohn says... #10

I too use a bag of holding as well as a dragon scale edh deck box (the one with the vinyl scale pattern, magnetic close lid, and holds 2 sleeved edh decks plus dice), misc deck boxes and fatpack boxes.

October 7, 2014 3:25 p.m.

I went into a Harbor Freight and bought a Metal Tool Case. It fits all my cards nicely, and the inserts in the middle come out so you can place the dividers however you want. It is big and bulky and thinking about getting a smaller one, like This. They also give away coupons like crazy, so I think my case only cost me around $10.

I have a large black purse that has so far been able to carry 2 full ultra-pro pro-binders (360 card slots), 12 decks that don't have any heavy deck-boxes, and four 24.5 cm x 10 cm x 7.5 cm carboard boxes full of penny-sleeved uncommons and commons. The straps have never broken so far (I fear this day, that's why I'm waiting for my floral pink backpack and floral blue backpack to come in), and while heavy on the shoulder (straps are too short to sling it across ones body) it has served me well~

I made my own for EDH using unfinished cherry and some custom dividers, I'll post pictures soon.

As for my other ones, I found that the faux leather ultrapro ones fit side by side into fat packs.

I use a old book bag to carry 4 binders. 2 decks and 2 smaller bindersThe 4 binders in which 3 are 18 x 20 sheet preconstructed and the 4th is a 3" 3 ring binder that's full of sheets. I need something else to carry this. I think I have a bag of holding somewhere. Not sure if it will fit everything

I use my school bag and to carry my 5 edh decks and other cheap / small decks in fatpack boxes. After that, my backpack carries a playmat, sleeves, dice, and a duel box meant for sealed. My binders go into the second compartment. I normally use the binder that carries the bulk of my stuff by my valuable stuff in a smaller binder.

October 7, 2014 6:36 p.m.

Dalektable says... #17

I use my school book bag, as well as ocassional a messenger bag. In that I just throw in a couple of fat packs (in which I keep a few decks, dice, etc), my playmat and trade binder. Pretty simple. Though I may adopt that method you have, vampirelazarus, instead of fat packs. Put my Legend of Zelda and TARDIS lunchboxes to good use...

October 7, 2014 7:06 p.m.

Everyone takes so many decks.... you can only play one. So yeah, I encourage my minimalist method. I also take a play mat.

October 7, 2014 7:22 p.m.

Femme_Fatale says... #19

But you can play multiple games vampirelazarus before and after fnm. Hence the multiple decks thing. And it is also more beneficial because you can plan ahead for which deck to use once you get there.

October 7, 2014 7:25 p.m.

miracleHat says... #20

I am with femme here. With my many decks, I have the choice to play whichever one i feel like (my mood varies a lot) instead of being forced to play Kaalia of the Vast over and over or Vendilion Clique . I know that it isn't the case with a lot of card shops, but the tourneys at the one that i go to start an hour late anyways, so there is ample time.

October 7, 2014 7:45 p.m.

That's why I take an edh deck. We play edh before, and afterwards we leave.

We are also all super competitive, and typically only play the same deck every week, in preparation for larger events.

October 7, 2014 7:51 p.m.

miracleHat says... #22

And you never get bored with them? I never get bored with mine (save kaalia, she dies too often), and still competitive. I play edh as many sundays as I can, though play with all of my decks equally.

I don't play EDH. I enjoy One body-One mind, Emperor and 2HG beyond simple modern and casual.

October 7, 2014 7:58 p.m.

miracleHat says... #25

@Femme_Fatale, you should start then! Yes, it might take awhile to procure a deck, though they are coming out with another set of premade edh decks. You can also mix 2HG with edh (my second favorite way of edh, first is archenemy). That being said, I do like modern, though i don't know of emperor. Could you give me a quick rundown please?

October 7, 2014 8:04 p.m.

Our meta is actually pretty varied, so it's great practice.

As for getting bored, no. The competition is enough to keep me satisfied with the deck.

If I feel like playing a different deck, I'll take a different one, but that's usually not something I do, especially since my only other competitive deck is gifts, and we already have another gifts player.

I just shove it in a bag.

I keep my decks in the Dragon Shield boxes the sleeves came in and take some extra decks in my M11 Deckbuilder's Toolkit box. The only actual deckbox is for my draft sleeves and cards. Until recently, my trade stuff was just sitting in the bag, but my new binder cane and they're in it.

I have an Alienware backpack for my MSI laptop (because i'm a rebel), that I just fill my playmat (inside a tube), deck boxes and my dice bag before I go to FNMs.

This is my purse that I use, showing three 30 cm rulers to denote a sense of size.

I also end up stuffing a lot more than just magic stuff in there. Deodorant, hair brushes, hair ties, hair clips, an extra pair of panties, my wallet and if it is a large tournament, make-up and perfume. So it gets quite heavy to carry around.

October 7, 2014 11:25 p.m.

"Extra pair of panties"

Despite being female I don't ever remembering needing an extra pair of those at a tournament lol.

I use my school backpack sans school stuff, with one trade binder and an average 900 count box for my decks. I'm looking for a different way to carry decks, since they flop around a lot in the box.

October 8, 2014 5:34 p.m.

Femme_Fatale says... #34

I sweat a lot ThisIsBullshit. I've always kept an extra pair of panties with me whenever I go out because I generally need to swap them some time after midday so I don't have that disgusting feel of sweaty panties throughout the rest of the day.

That and you never know when you can sell one for some extra cash or use it to gain some cards~

October 8, 2014 7:58 p.m.

You're making my day omg

I've got this ridiculous scenario in my mind: "I'll trade you a pair of panties for your fetch land"

October 8, 2014 8:16 p.m.

Femme_Fatale says... #36

I have like, 85 pairs of panties, I don't need all of them so I can use them for "other means".

nurzaani says... #37

I usually carry my stuff in New fatpacks until they can become opened really easily after tons of use. After that I just carry stuff for draft like sleeves, my zendikar full art basic lands,

Most of the time i take my one trade binder, my two m13 deck builders toolkit boxes(yes i do buy those just for the nicol bolas box) and 2-3 500 card count BCW boxes. The boxes are mainly for commonly sought after commons and uncommons worth less than $3 US. like Lightning Strike or Doom Blade or Gray Merchant of Asphodel , Skullcrack , and Monastery Swiftspear .

Femme_Fatale is it wrong that I envision you as Bulma? Like really...

October 8, 2014 9:58 p.m.

Lol, I can just imagine Femme_Fatale trading panties for fetches behind a card shop.

October 8, 2014 10:50 p.m.

Femme_Fatale says... #40

I don't know Bulma but I expect that is from Dragonball Z? I've never watched the show Ohthenoises.

It's an awesome method of saving money Wolfninja, I can buy panties for $1-$15 a pair, and if it would give me staples that can eventually be worth so much more, then why not?

i personally throw everything into a backpack, but you could always do it the fancy way and use a sak made of sewn together commons

Duct-taped together commons? You're doing it right.

Well other people have answered the question so your opinion wasn't necessary. It's not like you were asking a question you judt gave an answer to a topic that ended ages ago. Useless.

I thought shinobigarth's comment was useful and I'm glad he posted it. So what if people bring crap up from a month ago? There are new users every day who utilize this. IT'S A FORUM. Where people casually talk about whatever topic is currently popular. This topic just seemed to be popular again if someone decided to post on it. You all act like it's the end of the world if you see shit that you've already seen before..
