Double Sleeving with Dragon Shields?

Hey all. I'm trying to double sleeve a deck with KMC perfect fit sleeves and Dragon Shield sleeves, and I'm having some trouble. The perfect fits seem to slide off the card. I've looked up different methods, and nothing seems to work (Patting the card's top against a flat surface, putting in a non-sleeved card with it and then removing it, using my fingers to hold the sleeve to the card when insterting), and it's just ruining the top ends of my perfect fits. Should I just say "fuck it" and not use the perfect fit, or is there something that I'm missing?

I've never had perfect fits not, well, fit perfectly. It's also very rare for them to be miscut. Does the card slide out just when you're trying to double sleeve or all of the time?

Literally perfect fits should go on and off using the same method as a standard sleeve. Just pinch it at the middle to open up the mouth and fit the top of your card into the perfect fit, then just keep holding the perfect fit on the sides (the flat sides, not the seam) and push the card in by pinching it on the flat sides. you don't need to hold the card against a table or anything like that. If the fits don't fit, they might be too tight and you might need to get some new ones.

I have no trouble putting the perfect fits on, it's putting the card (with the perfect fits already on) into Dragon Shield sleeves. The card starts to come out because the Dragon Shields appear a little too tight for the card with a perfect fit already on it. I was wondering if this was a common problem, because I see lots of people with perfect fit/dragon shield.

Ah, Well, I've never had an issue with getting them into the DGSs, but they are sometimes cut differently. I usually just get the bottom seam of the fit card into the DGS and if it struggling to get in, i'll stretch open the DGS with my finger (while the fit is still in there) and guide it down the same way you would when putting a pillow into a case.

I've been doing that with some luck, but sometimes the corners or tops of the perfect fits get crinkled.

I think I'm just going to stick with the dragon shields.

Honestly? Switch to kmc hyper mats if you are having issues with dragon shields then switch the sleeve. If you are trying to double sleeve foils or expensive cards I would recommedn switching sleeves before deciding not to double sleeve at all. I will say that I have heard this issue depends sometimes on the type of dragon shields that you use like glossy vs matte

Which brand of Dragon Shields? I've only used the new style of sleeves, and never had any problems, but I've heard that some of the older styles had occasional problems, and getting a bad box of miscuts wasn't too uncommon.

Also, I agree with EmblemMan, KMC hypermats are amazing. I use them for every deck I play except for EDH since I'd have to buy 2... and I'm a cheap bastard otherwise I'd use KMC for that too.

The quality of kmcs has been lacking lately. Lots of split sleeves for both me and a buddy. I use the perfect fits and dragon shields w no problem.

Try the Dragonshield Mattes. They're pretty fantastic quality, shuffle feel, and work well with double sleeves.

I had the same problem, I use kmc hyper mattes with most of my decks and they work great. With dragon shields I found a method that sort of works. I hold the perfect fit sleeves card facing away from me and hold the dragon shield between my index and middle fingers on both sides. I then use my thumbs to push the corners of the card into the DS. Sort of complicated to explain but it was the way that worked best for me.

Thanks for all the feedback!

I'm using Silver Dragon Shields (not the matte ones).

I'll have to go with KMC Super Mattes next time, even if I don't like matte sleeves.

I found a method that works. It's time consuming, but the two card method has been working.

@Lhurgyof: I had the exact same problem as you. After using KMC Hypermatts and having them split too often I started using Dragon Shields with KMC perfect fits. The fit is really really tight but if you slide your finger in with the innersleeved card on the back and kinda push it in it works ok. After about a week the outer sleeves will have stretched and you will be able to remove and add innersleeved cards with ease.

Try to put your finger in the dragon shield sleeve along with the perfect fit and try to wedge it in. I've gotten used to them and now I double sleeved 2 EDH decks in a pinch

I ran into this problem today, and it was getting a bit aggravating, being that I was doublesleeving doublefaced cards. (Black matte dragonshields and kmc perfect fits) I found the issue worst in that last smidge to push the card into the sleeve, and then only the card would slide down, leaving the tip of the perfect fit hanging out.

I found that if I put my finger IN the dragonshield and slid down on the perfect fit, it would pull the card with it. The fit is just too tight at this point and the seal is being formed in that last smidgen too soon. Hopefully this doesn't warp my cards and the sleeves will stretch out soon.

Korombos They would stretch out in 2-3 days and will not warp your cards. I have 2 double sleeved EDH decks and I double sleeved them, then after a couple of weeks I took some of them out of the sleeves and I saw minimal to no warping. Another thing to keep in mind is to keep your cards under something heavy or put them in a tight deck box to squeeze out the air if you find it won't fit inside a deck box. Something like the Ultra Pro 150 Card Clear case will squeeze out the air and is only about 4 dollars.

Hey I found it works to feed the card with Perfect Fit into the opening, then turn upside down and place top end of card, where the PF is sealed, on a flat surface. Lightly grasp the dragon shield and pull it down. The pressure is distributed evenly across the entire top end and so if you pull down slowly to negate friction it should slide on with ease without crimping the PF or pushing the card out of the sleeve. You can get it 97% of the way in, but the card is then flush instead of pushed to bottom. I flip right side up, squeeze both sides to pop open the DS then use pad, not tip, of finger to push rest of way. If the card slips out a bit m you can leave it if it doesn't bug you and the PF isn't sticking out the top or pull out and repeat.

If you get stuck on a card that just won't stay in, you can put the card right side up into PF and then also right side up into DS. The top end is open on both sleeves so not water resistant but is same thickness so is not an issue with rest of deck.

My issue is the air left inside which seems to refill even after flattening and putting weight on deck. Think I may start separate thread though. Hope that helps!

Didn't mean to necropost, not sure what cut off is on that, but was having issue with this set up and didn't see my answer already posted...
