Just getting into speculating, and wondering what peoples thoughts are on what the biggest price drops will be when RTR rotates out in Sept?

I think he's already dropping, but I'm positive Desecration Demon won't be worth much after rotation.

Sphinx's Revelation will hold little to no value.

Ral Zarek will never hold at $7 either.

It seems all other have already taken their big dip though. Shocks of course will dip slightly and retain value over time.

Sloanan, you are right. He is <$2.50 right now

Rev sees play as a 2-3 of in modern, i doubt itll go below $5, and part of the reason foils are still $30, not to mention super playable in UW/x edh.

the problem is the drops wont be huge, because the biggest drops already occuered, rev is down from $30+, jace is like $4 now vs $30, mutavault isnt $40 anymore, so on and so on. the biggest drops will be everything thats not Abrupt Decay Deathrite Shaman shocks, and foil playables like Rest in Peace

I'm presuming staples like Rat Pack and Nightveil Specter will drop to around a buck. maybe Mizzium Mortars too. What are your thoughts on Domri Rade droping below 5, or Voice of Resurgence dropping to... I'm really unsure about how much rotation will hit this guy.

Sphinx is a 2 to 3 of in several modern decks. I wouldn't expect it to drop much below $5-6. Voice is a 3 or 4 of in some decks, and a 2 of in several popular decks. It sees play in Hatebears, Pod, and most Junk Rock builds. My guess is it doesn't drop below $10. Desecration Demon will probably be back to a dollar rare, same with Nightveil, and probably Pack Rat too.

Pack Rat is starting to get some modern buzz. Given that it's like a $2.50 rare right now, it's hard to see it dropping by that much.

Honestly I expect DRS to drop a bit hes not legal in modern and legacy just isnt big enough to support him

Voice will stay high after a slight dip. I didn't realize Rev was used in modern. DRS is a 4 of Legacy staple...WILL retain value. Will probably be unbanned one day too and skyrocket

Drs is used in only legacy which is probably 1% of all magic players look at things like Brainstorm its a staple but still cheap

Brainstorm is also a common and has been printed quite a few times.

Sphinx's Revelation is in like every single American Control deck.

You just answered the DRS question yourself though. Yes, its ONLY used in Legacy. It sees virtually no play in Standard. So rotation won't really affect it at all. Its price right now is being driven by Legacy demand, which isn't going to change.

DRS is the arguably most powerful turn 1 play in fair decks and allows some of the more unfair turn 2 plays. Foils are going to go up, non should remaim about where they are, and then rise. Hell never be unbanned in modern or at least not for many years
