Sell/Keep - Theros and M15

Basically, i'm just wondering what you guys think are good cards to liquidate now from Theros/M15 because they'll be 90% cheeper in six months if I want to buy another copy of em, and what's probably gonna keep it's value that I shouldn't bother trying to sell.

Obviously i'm holding the thoughtseizes, but everything else (let's keep it to rares and mythics that are standard staples) i'm curious about. Stuff like fleecemane lion, elspeth and downfall.

/PostScript - i'm selling my Elspeth, Lion and Downfalls, was just using an example of cards that have been big in standard.

Temples, Courser of Kruphix, Stormbreath Dragon, Xenagos, the Reveler, Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver, Kiora, the Crashing Wave, and Ajani, Mentor of Heroes will all drop. The walkers may rise back up a bit because of casual and edh. Well, Kiora's already low. She might just stay there.

What do people think about Mana Confluence's price?

Dump Goblin Rabblemaster, if anything; that card will drop like a rock after rotation.

TheDevicer Yea I got rid of most of that or it's on ebay at the moment. I disagree with the thought that the Theros gods are gonna drop. I think you should hold onto at least one of each and all of your Purph's and Erebos'. Those are very cool cards for EDH that are going to be in high commodity in a few years. And thanks for reminding me about nykthos.

slovakattack Yea i've got two sets of eidolon in my spec folder, and i'm aggressively trading for them, giving people more value. Think those are gonna jump to $20 within the year.

Ruffigan Keep one for EDH if you want but get rid of them asap.

ThisIsBullshit I'd hold onto em. Might drop a few dollars but they might go up in a few years, plus they are just useful in almost all EDH decks.

KillDatBUG Yep, got rid of em last month.

Almost nothing from theros sees modern and legacy play besides Anger of the Gods, Thoughtseize, and Eidolon of the Great Revel.

Courser of Kruphix and Stormbreath Dragon are fringe playable. They will drop a fair amount but will always be worth a little.

@kyuuri117

My second post was about cards I think might be worth holding onto.

Magic is so weird. People find eternal staples in standard and refuse to trade them ever. They become harder to find, people buy them online instead, and then the price goes up. But is it really worth more because nobody will part with them? I'm an offender too, sitting on 4 Thoughtseize and 6 Eidolon that barely see play, but I have to wonder how much of their value is artificial at the moment.

What? they are worth more because people want them. You sit on them because people want them more as time goes on. Copies gets lost or destroyed and they're no longer being printed.

They do not go up directly because people refuse to trade them. They go up directly because there will be no more ever printed in that edition.

I guess

So there are many different things that reduce access to cards (that drive up prices). People refusing to trade is one thing. But a bigger thing is that those cards will literally never be printed again. There are a multitude of reasons behind it but we should be looking at those that are HUGE reasons instead of those that are much smaller.

I'd hold onto Mana Confluence, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, Eidolon and Anger of the Gods. Swan Song sees more eternal play than in standard, so that one might be a good long-term spec to pick up now. People talk about how good Stormbreath Dragon might be in modern, but I'd still sell now. Courser is really iffy for me. It really only has commander appeal to me personally, but commander does crazy things to card prices so idk.

Courser of Kruphix seems very playable in modern, especially in decks running Collected Company. I don't know about Mana Confluence, however. That might drop.
