Nykthos and Courser

So I am building a modern mono-green devotion deck, and would like to pick up Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx and Courser of Kruphix. I was also going to pick up some Eternal Witness. I am wondering about your guys opinions on these questions:

  1. How far will Courser of Kruphix and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx drop after rotation?

  2. When should I pick the cards up?

  3. How much value will they hold going into the future? (I know Eternal Witness holds a lot of value, but I'm not sure about the other two)

I'm pretty sure I'll pick them up after rotation, just wanted to get some opinions.

Courser and Nykthos will both drop pretty heavily after rotation.

They have dropped pretty far from their peaks. I'd say they'll stick above the dollar-rare boundary but not go higher than $5.

Thanks for the insight. Do you guys have opinions on the other questions? Also, I pretty much know that Courser of Kruphix will drop, but Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx hasn't been used in a standard deck in a while, but still is almost $6. Just an observation.

I wouldn't expect nykthos to drop too much if any. It has an ability unlike an other land and a name that prevents it from being reprinted in just any set. It's extremely popular in EDH as well.

Rotation is just around the corner. They certainly won't rise, so unless you're in a rush, just wait for them to be out of Standard :)

abenz419 That makes sense, I don't play EDH. I might pick that up soon then. And ducttapedeckbox, I am in no rush. Just making sure I was making the right call. Also, when should I pick up Eternal Witness?

Rotation is actually probably your best bet, when Standard players are trying to get rid of them.

Eternal Witness is probably not going anywhere.

Alright, I'll wait then. And I know that this is about the time that Modern season ends, and already a lot of the cards are going down(not by much, but still going down), I just don't know when it'll be at it's lowest point.

Eternal Witness doubled in price when Collected Company came out and started getting popular. I don't know if it's price is going to come back down to where it was before. That $6-7 price tag is probably it's low.

Alright, thanks! I didn't expect it to go back to those prices. I was maybe expecting it to go down to at least $5 till Modern season starts back up again. I do have a friend who has one or two, so I might pick them up then.

Nykthos does see play in Modern, particularly in elves. It's also sought after for EDH. So this is something that will retain value. I'll be picking up a few more, at least for any new EDH decks I build.

It's a land with potential for fast mana. Never trust fast mana lands. I traded myself 4 playsets when they were lowest, plan on sitting on them for a while
