Have Mutavault 's hit their floor? Is now the time to buy? If they are going to drop more, will it be drastically, or just a couple dollars?

No they should fall slightly more nearer rotation of m14.

I don't really see them going up to much more than they are now in the future though, so if you need em, you shouldn't feel too bad buying in now.

The old mutavault has been $40 previous to the reprint. It's played extensively in modern. There's no reason to believe that it won't hit that level again.

Aside from the fact that the $40 price tag came from the card being much more limited in availability than it currently is and that there are roughly 5 times as many copies as there were when the original $40 price tag happened, yeah, there's not much reason.

Until modern becomes just as popular as standard, and decks that run Mutavault in modern (Merfolk, and... bad tribal decks?) become as potent and frequent as they were in standard this year, Mutavault will not hit $40 again, or even get close.

Modern has an extensive following of individuals who will continue to invest in the card for the foreseeable future to insert into merfolk, goblins, faeries and other tribal decks. The price will continue to climb in the long term as the card stops being opened in booster packs (given that theyve rotated out of standard) but is still sought after. I'm not talking about 6 months time, or even 12 months time, but in the extreme long term - yes it will absolutely rise. No-ones talking about right now, we're talking about the long term trend. The previous mutavault rose most AFTER it cycled out of standard, similarly I expect the same to happen here.

Note also that pros such as Craig Wescoe have predicted long term appreciation of Mutavault after it rotates.

I do not see Mutavault falling far in price. Not as long as there are great things to accomplish with it, such as the Descendants' Path +Mutavault +Congregation at Dawn combo.

ThatBlueMage Where did you come up with your figure of 5x as many in circulation?

Thanks folks, I needed another playset for a deck, so at worst I'll have 8x that I can move for around $15 a piece it seems. Not bad.
