Monastery Mentor: Flip or sit?

Economics forum

So, I currently have 2 Monastery Mentors I'm not using, and they seem to only be steadily declining in price. I could use the trade value now, and have opportunities to ship them out on Puca, but I've heard people say he sees enough play in Modern & eternal formats that his price could eventually be very high.

Should I go ahead and flip them now for ~$30 value, or sit on them and hope they go up? I don't mind holding onto them, but if these guys are dead I'd rather get rid of them while they're worth something.

I'm extra wary after trading away awesome cards while they were standard and getting huge losses long-term (Oh, how I miss those $20 Snapcasters and $30 Lilies....)

So yea, thanks for any input.

If you can trade them in for $15 each, I would take it. If the prices do go up, it will be in a longer time than justifies keeping so I'm all for selling them.

Flip 'em ASAP, its price isn't going to hold.

It's going to be a mostly vintage-legacy played card outside of casual. Hoard any foils but drop any non foils while you can

The real question is flip it or rip it.

Someone needs to do a Goyf edition of Will It Blend.

On topic. I like the card, I would struggle with that decision as well. It's a tough one, but I think origins will fit well with that card.

I'd dump them now and buy them back later when the price has bottomed out. Monastery Mentor is in a similar spot Voice of Resurgence was: he's an absolute powerhouse in Standard, but is more niche in other formats. He's still playable in other formats, but not in large enough quantities where he'll hold a large price tag after rotation.

Given that he's a mythic and uses a mechanic (prowess) limited to his block, he may never see a reprint and can be highly valuable within several months or years.

I'd trade them off now, then if you still want some, buy them later after rotation.
