Which cards do you guys see as spiking after Pro-tour Kaladesh? which will be standard heavy-weights and which if any will see good eternal play?

I can definitely see Key to the City becoming a standard heavy-weight. It just makes RB Madness even more consistent in dealing damage very fast.

Chandra, Torch of Defiance will be very nice in Standard for certain. She could see play in Modern, but it requires a Monored Midrange or R/x deck to spawn first.

Authority of the Consulate is a card that is also high on the list of Modern playables... I mean, it stops a T1 Goblin Guide from hitting you so it must be good, right? For standard I don't know if this will see that much play.

Finally I think that only the red and white Gearhulks will be that effective in Standard, maybe the Green one as well, but that's it. The black and blue ones don't cut it.

On a personal level I hope Syndicate Trafficker turns out to be a powerhouse, I really see it having much potential.

The gearhulks will see play in their respective colors. The Blue one may even make the jump to some eternal formats. 4-mana Chandra will be the most-played card in the set and will have the largest chance of a further price-spike due to possible play in Modern/Legacy/EDH. The new fastlands will see Modern play for sure, although I doubt they'll go up in price much while in standard. Panharmonicon is an EDH staple across the board, I'd pick those up in foil if possible. Inventor's Fair and Aether Hub would be my long-term holds. If a vehicle deck does well in the PT, there's a chance the rare vehicles could spike in price, but I doubt it. Ceremonious Rejection might end up being over $1 after rotation if it catches on in vintage. I'm not sure if there is really much more value in this set other than Chandra, the lands, and the Inventions though. I'm not going to go deep on any of the cards in this set, although I'll try and draft this set as much as possible since it looks like a fun one to draft.

cant see any reason why Authority of the Consulate wouldn't become a soul sisters sideboard staple in modern.

I agree with above. There isn't much value in this set. A few good commons and uncommons though.

I agree with a lot of what is being said. More specifically Syndicate Trafficker's potential.

In the right shell that card should be pretty hard to deal with and any time a 2cmc creature can also finish games it usually finds a home and a price spike.

I think of the gearhulks Verdurous Gearhulk is going to have the biggest impact but wouldn't be surprised if any of them took off really. I remember the titans and how a lot of people were saying Primeval was the only one that was amazing, then they all went through the roof for a while. I expect the gearhulks to be pretty common standard finishers.

My sleeper picks are Kambal, Consul of Allocation and Smuggler's Copter. If a Black/White taxes type deck can be put together I think he sees a lot of play. and Smuggler's Copter is easily the most constructed friendly vehicle and having card filtering in colorless should help it find a home in any deck.

I honestly think the gearhulks will lose their luster shortly.Chandra being a PW will be played but shes not worth the price tag attached now an will plummet shortly after this realization.I believe energy will flop by next set, its a gimmick in the set.Padeem, Consul of Innovation may see a bit of play in kaladesh block.Vehicles, interesting and fresh as they are, will crash an burn due to being subpar an clunky.Just my .02

Smuggler's Copter is already spiking somewhat thanks to some articles written this week. People have realized that Thraben Inspector falls off hard after turn 1 and the copter is a good use for it on turn 3.

I cant wait to play burn against a vehicle deck and just flamebroil the creatures while the vehicles sit an rot.

Ceremonious Rejection looks like an interesting hoser to affinity and eldrazi decks, but they seem to have died out since the ban. Inventor's Fair looks like a desirable card for EDH decks. Don't know if it will see any play in affinity decks, since 4 mana is a lot for that tutor effect. The legendary status means it won't be run as more than a 2 of so price won't go too high even if it does catch on. Panharmonicon definitely will see a home in a lot of EDH decks, but EDH doesn't tend to drive the demand for cards much unless it's a card that sees play in basically every deck that can run it. the red and black gearhulks look the best to me. the green and white ones seem rather meh.

My top five picks are:

  1. Torrential Gearhulk It's already doubled in price since last week.
  2. Padeem, Consol of Innovation Blue Hexproof & Card Draw, possible staple.
  3. Metalwork Colossus Will go up because Timmy loves big robots.
  4. Confiscation Coup A non-removable Control that also steals artifact? Yes!
  5. Panharmonicon Broken card that will be banned in Standard.

Honorable Mention: Insidious Will Well worth picking up a few playsets, just the re-direct ability has a lot of game winning potential imho

Yes blue ghulk has gone up an will fall just as quick in a week or 3.Panharmonicon will not get banned but it is gonna be a really fun card to play.I have to many favorites in this set but the hype train is chugging hard this set.

Okay, so I'm really impressed right now with Bomat Courier as a 4-of in Standard. He has haste, so you can get his ability going first turn, and his activated ability is extremely good for izzet tempo builds (as you can use it to stock your hand). That same ability can also be used to help trigger madness effects. My deck Quick Love (Izzet) has 4 couriers, 4 Stormchaser Mage, 4 Saheeli Rai, 2 Chandra, Torch of Defiance, 2 Torrential Gearhulk, 4 Slip Through Space, 4 Disperse, 4 Void Shatter, 2 Identity Thief and a Saheeli's Artistry.

So far I like the results.
