Could Managorger be the next goyf

The reason I say this is because of this: what deck shouldn't you run this in.

Managorger Hydra is going to be over $300.

Ahahahaha, NO!!!, but it could be a budget alternative. It costs one more and has no impact turn five. Goyf on turn five comes out guns-blazing ready to smash face.

Managorger Hydra

No it won't be.

It costs too much mana and it starts off very small. Goyf costs less mana and starts off big.

Managorger dies to bolt, goyf doesn't (unless you play in a silly way).

If goyf is removed its likely the removal spells cost the same as the mana you used to cast him. With managorger the spell to remove him will almost always cost less.

Also managorger is a horrible late game top-deck. Goyf is an amazing late game top-deck.

The difference between two mana and three mana is huge.

Also, the fact that this starts out as a 1/1 is a problem. Goyf can hit the battlefield as a 3/4 turn two, and this can't quite do that.

2 to 3 mana is actually a massive difference in Legacy. Also, the difference in pressure between a two drop that comes into play almost 95% of the time as a 3/4 or greater versus a three drop that comes in a 1/1 and then requires work to get somewhere is huge.

Not related since i know nothing about goyf-legal sets and because it seems like the points have already been made and repeated

But... good job T/O on actually providing reasons and not just laughing :D

@ tempest

A lot of us really attempt to provide helpful reasoning and fact based opinions, but there were a few people who chose to not listen to said reasons and provide any sort of counter-argument other than "I'm right, you're wrong." I personally stopped trying after a little while because it was like banging my head against a wall. As far as I know, manatee isn't known for doing that sort of thing, so I am actually able to be helpful.

fluffybunnypants- well there was that problem, but there was also the problem of comments like "Are you serious? Or stupid? Or both? Either way, have fun wasting all your money on Managorger Hydra and good luck winning tournaments with it"

Let's stay on topic.

I recently won at FNM because of the hydra, I can see him going up because of standard but he needs too much work to get big and is a bit too slow for modern or legacy. I still love this guy though!

I am sorry man. Not be too crass here, but lets play a game of modern where you can start on the play. I will turn 1 thought seize you after a fetch and turn 2 Goyf.

At this point, it would be the equivalent of Tarmogoyf kicking in Managorger Hydra's door, banging his wife, drinking his beer and then taking a nice big fat ugly shit on its couch.

How did I not see this card, and holy crap that Hydra looks nuts. I can't imagine how ridiculous that would be in draft, not to mention standard.

As others have said, two mana bs three mana is huge. All points have been brought up I feel. But I will say the card is insane in draft, he won me multiple games. Pretty sweet in EDH too.
